Re: OFFICIAL WW 2013 THREAD

I showed up last night for my regular meeting and I was so upset they were closed! I was so bummed since I ate lightly all day and felt like I was going to have a good loss.

I went this AM and I was down 2.6!! For a total of 10.4!! I'm so happy!! I knew I did well, I was so good during the storm!!

Re: OFFICIAL WW 2013 THREAD

Count me in. I just restarted a week ago.

I was 2 pounds down the first week. I was a little annoyed because I was down more than that and then ate my way through Friday and saturday with the snow.. So I was down 2 on Sunday. I want to lose 10 to get back to goal and hopefully another 5 to give me some wiggle room.

I am finding I am more hungry this time around. This is my third time. I am lifetime and I always do really well. It's keeping it off that is hard. I do well with the discipline it gives me. When I am not counting or logging it's so hard.

So far the meals are easy. I have been planning on skinnytaste and shopping for the week on Sunday. Not planning is my downfall. I cannot THINK after work. This causes me to eat out. So if I have it all planned it goes better. Snacking and stress eating are harder.

Great job this week everyone!

I didn't lose anything this week...I was kinda expecting that since I had a big loss last week, and it was partially due to a stomach virus. I'm still down a total of 18.6 lbs...hopefully getting back on track this week!

See, I would look at that as so positive. It's so hard not to gain after a stomach bug. I think you did great. Most of the stomach bug loss isn't "real" loss. The fact that you didnt gain is really something.

Great loss Sarah!!

Welcome back Tricia!!! I'm the same way with planning ahead. I plan pretty much all my meals and snacks for the week and do a lot of cooking and prepping on Sunday. It really does help so much!

Re: OFFICIAL WW 2013 THREAD

Sarah - It's awesome that you passed the 10 lb mark! I am hoping I get there this week, but not sure it's going to happen. I need to lose about 1.5 lbs to get there.

I agree, Tricia and Colleen, re: planning. I like to cook, so sometimes I find it fun to look online or at cookbooks or magazines to plan my menu, but it's like a second job! Sometimes it takes me an hour to plan and make my shopping list, plus doing the weekly shop, putting it all away... it's WORK. But then the week does go more smoothly.

I didn't go shopping this weekend -- and sometimes I like to go early in the week, but I've been swamped with work stuff. So I am going to go tomorrow. But I don't have any fruit (other than like one mealy old apple), any yogurt... so I am in the danger zone!!!

I am also struggling a bit with "occasions" and going out. I do well when I can eat at home and cook my meals, but it's so much harder when I'm out. And every weekend we've had something going on, and now Valentine's Day. I am not afraid to use my weekly 49 points. I usually use most or all of them and still can lose. But even they only go so far! And it's hard to stick to 26 pts if I blow through all my weeklies on the weekend. It's nice to have the cushion of an extra couple of points for an extra snack or treat if needed.

Ok so I think you guys may have been right about using my weeklies.. I have been trying an experiment since this Sunday (my WI day)... and have been eating some of my weeklies and doing less intense exercise (waking) to see what happens... this morning I just felt a little bit different so I went on my scale at home (which is always more than the WW scale for some reason), and per my scale i'm down a lb.. but I guess we will see what happens at my WI this sunday!

That's good!!!

I am sitting here starving and I looked back and I have been coming in under 26 points a day. I want to have a snack ( I have 3 points left) but, I had birthday cake last night (tinest sliver) and tomorrow is valentines' day. I have 41 extra weekly points left until Saturday. I just know I am going to overeat at Grillfire tomorrow night. Hot pretzels and cotton candy..... mmmm...

So, i am tying to ignore the growling tonight knowing that tomorrow night will be bad.

I am sooo hungry this time around!!!

I think you should definitely come in at 26 points a day at a minimum, not under! I think 26 is meant to be the lowest anyone should take in. Less than that may not be enough in terms of calories and nutrition. If each point is roughly 40 calories, 26 points is only like 1040 calories! I think it can be just as counterproductive for weight loss to eat too little as it can be to overeat. I only get 26 pts too and I need my weeklies to survive!

Also, I don't think you should eat less today to compensate for other days... I would have a snack today! You have 3 points left from today's daily points, so use them! Chat Icon

And enjoy grill fire.... One nice indulgent meal shouldn't spoil your weight loss for the week. I actually think I do better on weeks where I vary my points by splurging on a special occasion meal as long as stick to my points the rest of the time.

But being hungry is the worst! Are you eating enough protein? What about snacking on high volume, low points things... Fruits, veggie soups, salads?

Colleen had a good idea about posting what you are eating for feedback.

They have some pretty healthy selections at Sevs.

I just had a turkey sandwhich 7points +(plain), Special K chips 3pts + and grapes and a bannana.

They also have veggies and hummus. Apples, oranges, and apple slices with PB.

I am definitely going to check it out 7-11. Sometimes I am on the go for real estate appointments back to back and I usually try to pack snacks in the car, but not always. And then I am a ravenous beast when I get home and eat everything in sight!

And great job on the WI, Kim! I would love to get a .8 lb loss this Sat. am.

But tonight I am making cheese fondue at home for me and DH and I know we'll have wine and dessert. I only have about 15 weeklies left but I figured I can focus on dipping veggies in the fondue (I bought broccoli, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes), and DH can be more about the bread and potatoes and stuff!

What is everyone doing for Valentine's Day? Are other people planning to splurge a bit?

DH and I don't celebrate v-day...I'm not into it, so thankfully I don't have to worry about that! Just stick with the veggies and you'lll be fine! Chat Icon

7-11 also has greek yogurt, cereal (maybe cheerios or something else whole grain), regular yogurt...special k bars are good (not filling but tastey lol)

I did wind up eat a snack that night. I was too hungry and I felt better. I don't mind going to bed a little hungry but, that was crazy.

So as for what i eat. This is a typical day

Breakfast: Egg White Omlet with cheese
Grapefruit
Tea

Lunch:
Trader Joes 1 point wrap
1/4 avocado
6 slices turkey
1 oz alpine lace reduced fat swiss
Fruit
Some type of WW 2 point snack

Dinner:
Something from skinnytaste. I try to eat a lot of spinach or broccoli rabe on the sides since it fills me up. I had pasta with scallops and tomatoes one night this week. Skinny Lasgna rolls, butternut squash risotto with brocolli rabe etc.

If I am really hungry I will have a fruit or another WW Snack (depending if I am craving sweet or not)
This usually comes in just at 26 points or about a point or 2 less.

I did well at Grillfire. I didn't count any points so I am sure I used my 49 and then some. 2 glasses of wine, a hot pretzel, 1/2 of cotton candy, and a crab cake blt with fries. Then we went to the Vine Wine bar and split a wine and chocolate pairing and got free champagne.. headache much??!! But, it was fantastic and we had SO much fun so I can't be upset about it. I got on the scale this moring and I was only up .2 from yesterday. So I should still go into Saturday's weigh in 2 pounds down.

Tricia, I LOVE The Vine Bar! Wine and any kind of small plate that goes with it -- a cheese plate, olives, bread, etc. is my total weakness. But I think it's definitely worth it to savor a treat like that from time to time. And your Grillfire dinner sounds so good, too!

I didn't do too badly last night either - but I am sure I went way over points, too, and that's ok. I did make the cheese fondue and did dip some bread but tried to stick more with the veggies. And it was filling so I didn't really eat a crazy amount. I had bought these chocolate pudding parfaits from Ivarone's for dessert but they were SO rich. I ate maybe 1/3 of mine. Even DH only at part of his, which is unheard of. We did split a bottle of prosecco and then I had a glass of red wine. But I feel ok about it. I am hoping for a maintain on Saturday, but would be thrilled with any loss.

Tricia, your daily menu looks pretty good. A couple of thoughts I had that might curb your hunger are:

To add a big salad or cup of low point veggie soup to your lunch when you can ... I think it would add volume to your lunch to fill you up more and might only be 1 or 2 pts. You could get in a healthy oil serving that way (add a tsp of olive oil to your salad or soup), too.

Another thought I had is with the snacks. I personally do not find any of the WW snacks very filling. So if it's do-able, maybe try to snack on something that is more nutrient-dense, like a yogurt (it looks like maybe you are a little light on dairy, which I always am!), apple and peanut butter, hummus and veggies, hard boiled egg, cheese stick with fruit, instant oatmeal, .... It might keep you feeling more full. And it may help you get in some more protein or dairy or veggies or whatever you think you need for that day.

I use the WW mini bars sometimes at night if I really am craving something sweet with a cup of tea. But if I am hungry, that type of thing doesn't help me!

I would also eat an after dinner snack, esp. if you are hungry and have the points. Even if it's a hot cocoa made with skim milk or something like that, maybe you will feel more satisfied?

I don't know - It's so hard! I struggle with hunger and I eat ALL of my 26 pts and my weeklies, so I obviously don't have all the answers! Chat Icon

I would be hungry too!! I have to have snacks or "mini meals" throughout the day. I eat (on average) about 6 times a day. Maybe try splitting up your meals into something smaller? Like cut your lunch wrap in half and have half at one time then wait an hour or two for the other. I sometimes have 2 lunches a day. I could never eat only 3 meals a day!! I would die waiting for my next meal lol.

What type of 2 point WW snacks are you having? I would def. make sure its something with nutritional value. I've tried to stop with things like the special k bars, etc. that are tastey but do nothing for me.

ETA some other thoughts I had:

Maybe bulk up your wrap and omlette with veggies? Try peppers and onions in your omlette. And in your wrap, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. When I make wraps I try to use more veggies to make them bigger!

Also, you should make sure you are getting in your healthy oils every day (1 tsp a serving). It's part of the "Good Health Guidelines". I used to think the whole thing was a crock but then I added 1 tsp of evoo to my salads and it helps!
