No, didn't get it, and it wasn't even offered to me.
Same with me... and if it was offered, I would have said no. Never even considered it.

This was the furthest thing from my mind durling labor. I didn't do it then and I won't bother doing it this time. There is no dignity in child birth.

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
this is one of those things that make me cringe. I am so shy when it comes to bodily functions. I don't think I'd get an enema....I feel like that might be worse.
I have heard that most ppl don't even know they do it and no one pays attention. Well, I know someone who will notice..DH! He'll make sure to tell me about it afterwards and I know I'll be embarrassed!! LOL.

my hospital does it when you come in. it brought on labor with my second. so uncomfortable.
It is no longer routinely done at hospitals anymore because there really isn’t a need for it.
Often your body will take care of things on its own, its one of the signs that labor is near

No way. With Ryan my body took care of that beforehand. Even with this false labor or semi-labor I had yesterday, I had bathroom issues Saturday so I thought for sure my body was gearing up before I even had contractions

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
From what I understand, they used to offer it, now you have to ask for it. I requested it because I was so incredibly constipated during my entire pregnancy with DS that I felt more comfortable trying to get it all out beforehand. I will probably ask for one again this time.

I really want to........My only thought is am I going to be able to actually do it while I am having contractions....How long do they last?
I was having HORRIBLE contractions during mine but they had recommended it before I got the epidural.
My delivery was at Huntington Hosp as well ...

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
I dont understand why people do this in the first place? Is it just for vanities sake? Honestly, Id much rather poop on the table then have explosive diarrhea while simultaneously having contractions.
And youd feel better about what or from what?
I say ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I felt a million times better being "cleaned out" ... I had McDonalds for lunch the day before and a big Italian dinner late that night at work

I never in my life ever expected to sound "PRO-ENEMA" but I'll add that I never thought about it before hand, I wasn't "worried" about delivery. They recommended it and I figured maybe they knew something I didn't. And knowing how traumatic all of the blood, etc was on DH I'm glad I was able to save him from witnessing anything additional

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
This is giving me some anxiety along with the rest of the labor. I don't think I'd accept it though. With my luck I'd have some crazy reaction to it and won't be able to stop going. I just keep telling myself that these nurses and doctors see this all day long. Hopefully, I won't know what is going on & Dh just better keep his head near mine

I really never thought about it beforehand either, I mean it's crossed my mind that I'd be mortified if DH saw this go down but frankly at that moment in time, I'm sure I could care less but yes my friend (who is a L&D nurse in Huntington) said they do offer it and recommend it......maybe they just don't want to clean it up as it's happening......do ya blame them? haha I see no harm in getting it done at all but I just don't know if I could handle that and contractions all at once haha. & well, TMI..I haven't had any problems going this pregnancy so yes, I'm a little concerned now that it's so close that it could happen and so if I could prevent it (or at least try to)...heck, why not?

same with me and pooping on the table did not even cross my mind when I was in labor, I never even thought about it. I was too focused on when the next hellish contraction was going to start

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
I didn't (wasn't asked if i wanted it)but someone delivering same day as me apparantly did b/c the nurses were saying she was having diarrhea. I warned dh ahead of time & honestly don't know if i did poop & haven't asked yet.

Re: OK, I'm just gonna come out and ask....
I am not sure. I guess if I am "clogged" up I would get one, but other than that probably not. I am not concerned about pooping while delivering. I don't plan on looking and and that point I doubt I will care in the slightest.

Me neither! And my body 'cleansed itself' before I left for the hospital. I will not be doing it though if it is availale on the day I deliver.
