I am completely against the death penalty. Not for religious or moral reasons, but because it will never be implemented fairly. Our legal system is far from perfect and has a lot of bias. The rich will be able to buy their way out of a death penalty but the poor can not. So two men who commit the exact same crime will get very different sentences. And that's not right.
I also don't think it works as a deterrent. Most people capable of taking multiple lives don't value their own all that much. Unless they are mentally ill, in which case the death penalty won't apply to them anyway.
A death sentence also costs much more than leaving a man in jail for the rest of his life. So it may bother you that money is spent feeding and housing a man for the rest of his life, but you'd pay significantly more to see him die. I life sentence isn't exactly a picnic either. Personally I'd rather be dead than in jail forever.
I am deinately with you on this one!!! Too many flaws in our system. And the person being executed is getting off easy!! JMO
