If you would not sit somewhere with that body part (breast) exposed when not feeding your child, why does feeding the child make it any more of a reason for anyone to see? Honest question.
I think it's wrong to expect someone to not view breasts as sexual or as an exposed body part simply b/c that is what you are choosing to do with yours. But if another woman simply chose to have hers exposed for another reason (say not feeding a DC but just b/c she felt like it) would you really feel comfortable seeing that (in the mall, restaurant, etc)?
The entire purpose of a breast is to feed a baby.
It's sad that society makes us feel uncomfortable with that. That I as a BFing mother feel uncomfortable about it.
When push comes to shove, we weren't given breasts for sexual satisfaction. They have a real function. "Choosing" to use your breasts to feed a child wasn't always a choice. Pre-formula it was a necessity for your baby to live.

Not trying to start drama, but I am curious, just to know.
For those women who expressed discomfort at a breast being exposed for BFing in public, what is your opinion on the amount of skin shown by some girls at clubs, in public, etc.
Let's use J Woww from Jersey Shore as an example. I know she often wore shirts that were so revealing, one wrong move would cause bare breast.
Would this be different or the same.
Once again, I am not trying to put anyone down, bash anyone's opinion, etc. I am genuinely curious.

I want to add anyone who thinks a kid can eat under a covering try it the next time they have a bottle and see what happens.
I totally get that it makes some people uncomfortable, I really do. I honestly can tell you I only did it once or twice and my kids BF for 2 years each. My boobs are very big and I could never do it discreetly so I always went to a private room, but I will fight to the death for a woman'r right to do it in public if that is her choice.

I didn't compare the act of intercourse to BF. I compared body parts being used for various functions. Two different things. Re read what I wrote.

I think this goes to the question I just posed. I think she is trying to say that many people don't think twice about girls who are dressed so revealing that they are a millimeter away from a wardrobe malfunction, but they will cringe at the thought of BFing in public.

I have no issues with it and I did it.
I don't think the issue people have is with the nudity, to be frank. I think the people who have an issue with it don't want to see a baby sucking on something they consider sexual.
That is why those same people don't bat an eye at the women in with their boobs hanging out skimpy bikinis but are horrified at a flash of skin when putting the baby on the breast to eat. They cannot fathom that the same part of the body can be used for these two completely different things.
And to answer the person who asked about that - yes they can be used for both. You have to separate the two things.
You feed your baby and you have sex. You don't do them both at the same time.

I support BF 10000000000000000%... but there are those who do NOT have children... do NOT want to see *that* so I respect them.
I have BF in public, but had some kind of cover up/ wrap etc...it is a private moment btwn me & my son and I always wanted it that way.

Necks generally aren't considered private parts though. They are generally exposed on everyone. Breasts, vaginas, penises and buttocks (whatever you want to call them!), these parts are generally always covered and if they are not, many people WILL feel uncomfortable, whatever the reason!
I go to my GYN and know he is a doctor taking care of me, and has seen a million unclothed women. But that doesnt make me want to unrobe still knowing this without feeling uncomfortable (even though this is a man who can save my life from breast cancer, ovarian, cervical cancer, etc). KWIM?
So as much as many people dont want to expose themself for whatever reason, they will feel uncomfortable if they see another's normally covered body part exposed (sexual or not).

My point is, most of our body parts have multiple functions when it comes to sexuality. Some a-hole hundreds/thousands of years ago wanted women to cover up. Many societies today are covered head to toe.
So because some man how ever many years ago decided that women should cover their breasts, I now have to feel uncomfortable feeding my child?

Bottom line, if you wanna do it, do it. I ain't gonna stop you, make nasty comments, ask you to go into a closet, a bathroom or anywhere else, BUT DO NOT expect me to be comfortable with it. It would be MANY years in the making to have everyone who is uncomfy with it, to get over it and it won't happen overnight. It took many years for many of our current civil rights/liberties to sit comfortably with the majority. THIS topic may take as long if not longer to accept amongst the masses regardless of what the Academy of Pediatrics says. Things take time.
I realize other countries/cultures don't blink an eye over this topic, but apparently, it hits a sore spot with enough people that this topic shows up ad nauseum and causes strife.

But in all seriousness, I would like to know, would it bother you if a man (or woman) was watching and seemed to be too interested in what you were doing? Would you feel uncomfortable then? Very serious question. B/c if you are doing it in public, then anyone has a right to watch and you cannot get offended or upset if they do watch. And there ARE sickos out there. I would not want my child or my body to be violated like that. How would that make you feel? Would you just not care?

to be totally honest, no i wouldn't be offended. i'd think the person was a wierdo for getting a little over excited over something like BF. that's just my opinion. if someone looked like they'd harm me or had ill intent, then i'd be uncomfortable, but other than that, nope . people can watch, i don't have a third nipple or anything

A lot of woman can be discreet with out covering up, i dont know why people think of breastfeeding in public like flashing. Most woman don't do it like that, most can make it look like they are just holding their child. Often times there is not much to see. IMO
