I think from now on when I'm in public with my kids I just won't speak.
Seriously!!!! Now you can't even yell at your children??? It's not like she said "What do you want, you little A-Hole?"
Maybe her kid was being especially bratty that day. I have said much worse than "what is your grievance?" in really angry tones to my 3 year old. To the OP - have you gone thru the terrible 2's yet? You might have a better perspective once you have!

Re: Overheard at the Sprinkler Park today...
It's really a good thing you "judgey" moms are all so perfect that you actually feel entitled to practically criminalize these parents, who are probably just doing their best like most of us.
You judgers are the ones who make me sick. Not the dad who gives his kid a treat or the mom who's probably trying to make it through the day with a whiney kid.
Maybe you should take a look in the mirror and worry about your own faults.
My God.

OK. You will never hear me say to Cai to first eat his chips so he can get his slurpee, but you MAY hear me say things like this to Cai.
Same here!

Re: Overheard at the Sprinkler Park today...
and once again, many posters here are taking things WAYYY too freaking seriously and to heart. This was just one person's reaction. She was simply voicing her displeasure, she never once said "What a horrible mother!" You never see what another parent does and cringe now and then? Please. She was not raking the mother over the coals. She just didn't like that one snapshot that she witnessed. Did she call CPS on her? Lordy, the overreaction around here!!
We all judge. Whether or not we share it with others, we judge. Quit acting like you never do too. In a perfect world, we'd all ask ourselves "what was the situation?" But it ain't perfect. Cut her some friggin' slack. Geez.

Re: Overheard at the Sprinkler Park today...
I'm pretty conservative when it comes to what I think should be said to a child, and I don't have a problem with it. I actually would like to steal it because it adds a little spice to whats your problem, lol

I seriously LIKE too, it was the nastiness of the mothers speech towards the child, not the words.

Re: Overheard at the Sprinkler Park today...
I didn't read this whole thread. That being said, I use "big" words with DD sometimes. And I like when she uses them correctly.
If I have a day where DD is non-stop complaining and whining all day, then I would say something similar to her. Usually I will say "what is your problem?" And I speak to her like an adult. No baby talk here.
