Quite honestly, it's a lose/lose situation. If she wasn't upfront about it, people would criticize her and they're still criticizing her for being upfront. What can the woman do? Her kid is knocked up, she can't really hide it forever, so she came out and said it. Good for her. Again, what's baking in her daughter's oven is none of my business, nor is it anyone else's.
Bush's daughters were caught drinking underage in bars. Geez, our current president has a not-so-savory past. Everyone has something in their closet. EVERYONE.
Exactly.
I don't even agree with all of her policies/platforms. But, i do think that what's fair is fair, and this isn't really all that fair to her, imo.

Maybe if she has evidence of a broken condom, this would support her platforms for both pro-conception and pro-life?  Ehh i guess that would Definitely be throwing her daughter under the bus then... even worse than showing pics of her as a baby, nekkid in the bathtub

I think it's funny. Whenever a topic came up about Clinton, the argument always turned to "I dont care about his personal life, it doesnt affect me". People didn't care about his infidelity (understandabley, to a degree) because it didnt affect them. They didnt even care that he purjured himself under oath because, again, it didnt affect them. But, now her daughter is PG, so people question her abilities. I'm not trying to make this a debate about anyone Vs. Clinton, just making a point that.... It's funny.
I would agree... IF she wasn't a strong supporter of abstinence only education. She is anti-abortion, and from what I understand, wants to cut federal funding to schools who teach sex education- and not abstinence only education.
Since her abstinence only education IN HER OWN HOME obviously doesn't work- hence the pregnant 17 year old daughter- how can she expect it to work on this country?? That is where my issues lie. Its not only about what is going on in her home- its about her policies which are clearly don't work in her own home.

I agree with Shelly 110% - Abstinence education begins at HOME IMO

I dont understand this statement? Is she mother of the year because her teenage daughter got pregnant, or mother of the year because she continued on with her goals and career despite having some obstacles in her own life?

honestly- based on her views that I don't agree with- it's my opinion that she shouldn't have accepted the nomination KNOWING that this might come out
and IMO- she decided the annouce this private family matter to stop the rumors about HERSELF - which put herself before her 17 year old daughter
so last week when everyone was praising her for being a "hockey mom" who can do it all- she is really a fraud in my eyes- a typical politican- nothing more, nothing less
it has nothing to do with her gender- just her preaching- that maybe she should have practiced at home first

I don't believe for a minute that McCain already knew about the pregnancy when he picked her. It's not like she is the only female politician in the world and he HAD to have her. He obviously wanted to have a woman on the ticket, but don't think he would have picked someone who was in this situation as it might alienate a lot of conservatives.

I certainly would not have!
My mom STILL doesn't know that I was having sex before DH and she's about as liberal as they come. It's just something I can't talk to her about, and we talk about pretty much everything else.

I don't like how they keep pushing the fact that the WILL get married either. As if that "makes it better" or changes the fact that she's 17 and pregnant. Yes, perhaps she "messed up" but getting married doesn't change what happened.

Palin states: "We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby..." Isn't it wonderful that we live in a country in which Bristol (and perhaps Levi, too) had the right to make this decision, rather than have the rest of us, through our government, make that decision for them?

her being married doesn't change the fact that she is 17 and pregnant

Maybe that’s why he’s trying to quash the breaking news of Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy. Besides, nowadays it’s usually the norm. At least she’s planning to get married, and she’s not going to get an abortion. I feel that it is in bad taste to discuss this topic on the night of the Convention.

I'm sorry, but this is really not relevant at all. Obama isn't pro abstinence and Sarah Palin is, therefore if her teenage daughter turns up pregnant people are going to have something to say about it--and I think rightfully so!
