I'm still trying to figure out why anyone cares Me too. I dont understand why anyone would care how a stranger pays for things.

If you are someone that doesnt carry cash and pays your credit card in full every month - then sure
My sister charges everything because she gets points or sky miles or whatever and then pays the whole bill ITA- I usually don't charge under $6 but I do charge everything I can. This year I got $500 check from my credit card for cashing in miles. This is a free card(no fee) and I pay in full every month.

i can't believe how long this post got!
to the OP: i also would have been there are times when i had no $$ and i had to pay for things with a debit/credit card but for something like a haircut or pedicure, i always make sure i had the cash on me.
after reading these responses, i am surprised at how many people use their CCs for everyday purchases - but i totally get it now, everyone's explanations were very helpful.
but seriously people... was there any need for snarkiness? the OP was making an observation - at no point was she rude or , she was just expressing her surprise. are we not even "allowed" to do that anymore?

It's LIF...no observations allowed.
Just kidding of course.
I am not going through 5 pages of posts but someone's post sounded a little judgemental and implied that if you are charging a manicure you must not be able to afford one or that it was a bad habit to use cc for small purchases. Something like that. I didn't realize so many people use cc for small every day purchases either but if I was one of them I would probably be bothered if someone said that.

well just to play devil's advocate--i think that people got a little upset cause the OP made it sound like she just automatically assumed that the girl couldn't "afford" the $6 manicure and that if she can't afford it, she shouldn't be using a card to pay for one. since many posters obviously use their cards for just about everything for a variety of reasons, they probably took offense about the assumption that because someone uses a card to pay, they can't "afford" what they are buying.
i think a lot of folks were just putting themselves in the girl's position who paid for the manicure on her card...as if "so if you saw ME paying with my card, you must think i can't afford it!"
(not saying this is my opinion--per se, just trying to give the other side)

I did say that, and looking back yes it was wrong of me to assume that. So I take it back.
I realy was just surprised to see someone use a CC for such a small thing.
Again, it was just an observation that I worded wrong.

it was said later on---i'm paraphrasing but it was something like "if you can't afford a $6 manicure then don't get one"
i'm sure she didn't mean anything by it cause she didn't think of how many people use CCs these days for points and stuff.

yeah i didn't think you are being malicious about it at all. i'm quite surprised this thread took such a long turn that it did! guess it just hit a nerve or something.

Re: Paying for a $6 dollar maincure on a credit card?
I got my eyebrows done...realized after I had $3....and I had to put the waxing on my debit card and tip her my cash. it happens. I try to avoid putting small amounts on debit/credit, but sometimes, you just don't have any cash. no one's business/no big deal/non issue, IMO.

Re: Paying for a $6 dollar maincure on a credit card?
Not that I'm getting manicures these days anyway, lol, but I'd try not to for that small an amount. Businesses get hit with an extra fee for credit card payments, so unless it was a big amount, I wouldn't do it.
