please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

DH and i went shopping at BBB the other day. i had a coupon for $5 off a $15 clothing purchase so we were browsing and saw a rack of ed hardy clothes.

um, one black t-shirt was $55!!!

the other clothes (t-shirts and hoodies) started at $35 and went exponentially higher Chat Icon

is it just me, or is it so strange to pay that much $$ for a shirt that the kid will outgrow in, say, a week? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

I couldnt agree more....I do not understand designer clothing for kids....unless you are rolling in the dough and have nothing else to spend it on. But for average moms and dads shopping at BRU - I dont see the point.

Chat Icon And I think their coupons even say that Ed Hardy stuff is excluded! I wonder how they sell any of that stuff...

Okay, well I will admit I bought DD a Juicy outfit, and only because it was a ruffly butt that said "juicy" across it and I just had to considering her poopy diapers...lol

Not alone!

I will tell you that if that Ed Hardy shirt was on the clearance rack for more than 1/2 the price, I would buy it Chat Icon

Never. I hate to spend too much $$ on christmas and easter dresses so I would never spend $55 on a shirt.

I know some people wouldn't mind paying that much for kids clothing, however I am not among them.

DD grows so fast and she plays hard, I couldn't imagine paying that kind of money for a shirt.

Not alone! Once in a while I will splurge and get someone that I normally wouldn't since I tend to save on everything else.

Re: please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

no, you're not alone. I think it is insane.

Notice the shirt my son is wearing in his avatar. Ed Hardy --- apparently DS's godmother doesn't think it is ridiculous because he has a bunch of designer stuff from her - she has a bit of a shopping addiction.

Quite frankly, some of the stuff is cute. But I feel that I can achieve the same level of cuteness with clothes from Kohls and Target . Needless to say I don't think I've ever spent more than $15 on one item for DS since he's been born (except for sneakers).

And DH and I do joke around about how ridiculous it is that on some days my son's clothes cost more than both of our outfits combined.

Re: please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

i don't mind spending alot of money on an outfit if i feel its worth it...

i bought DD (due in July) a Juicy outfit that cost me $100.

granted she will grow out of it, but it was too cute to pass up and i have the same one as her...

i usuallyh don't spend money on clothes (i have great friends who buy my DS & DD clothes) so i was able to justify the $$ on the one outfit

you're not alone!! Call me cheap, but I refuse to spend more than $30 on a piece of clothing for DD right now, she's 4 months old (unless it's outfit for special occasions of course). Just last week I walked by a children's boutique in the city, went in and saw a shirt costs $211, I almost Chat Icon Chat Icon
I still have tons of clothing in tags because DD grows out of them so quickly!

me too! I also think gymboree is too $$.

All of DS's clothing comes from clearance sales at the childrens place, target and carters.... and when I splurge, we go to H&M!

Re: please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

I don't know, personally, I do not think it's worth the money, but I know plenty of people who do think it's worth it and so be it. Ava outgrows everything so quickly that I'd basically be throwing money down the drain.
But then again, I also feel the same about diapers. I refused to buy name brand diapers and spend all that money on something my kid was going to sh-t intoChat Icon

Ha, so do I. The only things I will pay full price for are coats, dress clothes and shoes and that's only after I've tried to find a better deal.

Re: please tell me i am not alone in thinking this is ridiculous!!

NEVER EVER EVER would I spend that type of money on a shirt for a CHILD.

Its insane to me. So much better use for that type of money IMO...and I feel like its perpetuating the whole fashion thing that pre teens and teenagers are struggling with now....All the Hollister, A & F wear the kids "MUST" have. It is sending the WRONG message.
