Poll - will your young child be getting a flu shot this year?

I am not trying to start any drama here, I am just curious to see how many people are planning on getting the flu shot this year for their children that are under 5 years old, and how many are not.

Yes
She goes to daycare- I am not taking any chances.

ETA- I never get one, but I know the flu is so much more dangerous in babies and children.

I did last year, and I will not be giving it this year. I have never gotten one, and either has DH. We are fine!!

Nope. We never do.

We go to work
None of us get the shot.

*shrug*




ETA: actually come to think of it, AJ & I both ended up with the flu last year. Ha! Hopefully we got some goodie goodie antibodies! I do recall that I kept pushing for them to call it flu but no one would. By the time they did she was already over it and nothing could be done. She just had to live with it until it died.

Absolutely YES. As will myself and dh. I am a teacher and will not take the chance

yes. ds has asthma. its highly suggested for him. infact we all get one.

I called this morning to make appts for the boys to have one soon, and I'll get it while I'm PG to protect the baby.

ugh. I am not sure.

the last 2 years I didn't b/c I was nursing and I felt he was well protected by that.

but this year he's no longer nursing and I just don't know.

I've never had the flu shot. I am not sure if I want to give it to him. he's not in school yet but he will be going to classes this flu season, and my nieces are always good to bring their school germs home to him too.

ugh.

I just don't know.

When my daughter was around 7 months old I think, she had the flu. It was HORRIBLE!! Poor baby was sick as a dog. I will never put her through that again, she is getting the flu shot, yes yes yes. So are my DH and I. We wont risk it again.

Yes. DS got it last year as well and he was pretty healthy last winter (knock on wood) other than the chicken pox. He's in daycare 3x a week.

Yes, she'll get it and so will DH and I. We usually get the shot ourselves every year.

Yes. DH had the flu 2 years ago and he was a MESS - sleeping nearly 20 hours a day, no exaggeration. DD and I both had our flu shots and we didn't catch it, even though all 3 of us were home together. Ever since then I'm not playing around.

My DD will be 3 in September and although she is home with me 24/7 I still give her the shot every year. Better safe than sorry in my book. She will get it at her 3 year well visit in Sept.

DD will definitely get it. DS can't get it because of his egg allergy. I'm not sure about DD2, she'll be 6 months next month, but I'm nervous because of the egg allergy. What if she has it too? I have to talk to the allergist about it. I will get it too.

Yes! The twons are scheduled to get it next month and the month after.

I am not sure. DS didn't get it last year. He doesn't go to daycare so I am leaning more towards NOT giving it to him, but DH and I both commute to work and would hate to bring something home to him.

Absolutely. Both of my kids had their flu shots last year. While they both still ended up with the flu, they had drastically reduced cases.

not sure ... DS is home with me, but DH works in a hospital and that makes me so nervous about what he brings home.

Last year he got it, only because I felt that it could really have helped him, but turns out last year the strain of flu that was going around was not what they put into the shot.

Its always about risk vs benefit to me. The risk of reaction to flu shot is smaller than most other shots I did not hesitate to give.

Yes! Im so excited she'll be old enough to get it this year, I won't be paranoid about her getting the flu!
