Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
I just called my Ped's office and they hadn't heard about it yet. Didn't seem very thankful for being informed about it

FYI, on the off chance anyone else's DC takes Neosure, none of the Neosure is on the recall.

Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
I am just going to put my opinion out there because I think I may have a very different view than most others.
At this point, I can't be overly pi$sed off at Similac. There was a potential contamination in one of their plant. They are spreading the word about the recall and have procedures in place to reimburse parents for the recalled formula we still have. I understand most ped offices and stores are not aware of the recall yet, but this recall only happened a couple of hours ago. (my ped didn't know about it nor did the local supermarket where I just returned an unopened package).
I imagine it might take some time for all the stores to get the word.
Right now, I think that Similac is doing everything they can to rectify the situation. Thankfully, there shouldn't be any health issues surrounding the recall. My DD has already completely finished 2 containers and half finished 1 container of the recalled formula and she is fine. I just went out and got some of the Similac RTF.
I guess I am just not at a place yet where I can be really upset with them as a company yet. They seem to be doing everything they should be to make things right.
I am thankful, however, that I am a part of this site because if I wasn't, I don't know how I would have found out about the recall until I went into a store and saw the shelves bare.

You should! They said for faster reimbursement to take them back to the store.

Just freaking great! Similac Sensitive is the ONLY thing that won't make DS throw up! I've tried amost every brand out there & this was the best for him. I'm sick of these companies.
I didnt read the article yet DD is on Similac Sensitive too Im guessing thats recalled too

ITA! I was thinking the same thing. Thankfully I read about it here so now I know. It is frustrating and scary when things are recalled (just recently it was eggs and milk) but at least they're doing something about it.

I think a lot of the stores aren't aware yet. DH just went to BRU too and everything is still on the shelves (we're in Brooklyn)

Is the Gerber Good Start Gentle similar to the similac sensitive? What about Enfamil what is similar?

Unfortunately you have to enter in your specific lot numbers to see if they are recalled. There isn't just a general list of numbers. You can call the 800 number.... 800 986 8850

Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
Just got back from BBB Westbury and they hadnt heard of it until RIGHT before I came in (around 5). They took back both sealed and an almost completely used container and gave me store credit. Similac powder in the larger containers was still on their shelves as well as at Target.
I am trying Enfamil Gentlease as a substitute for Similac Sensitive. I thought about buying the non-recalled Similac products but I just couldnt bring myself to.

Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
Just returned 2 unopened containers to BRU. They were unaware of the recall but while deciding on what to buy I ran into another guy who returned his Similac Soy. Said they were in the recall.
We talked another mom out of buying the powder for her 10 day old.
Gonna switch to Enfamil and never look back.
Hopefully Costco will take back the empty container I have.

I agree, there were no major health issues, but for the last few days, we've noticed DD doesn't want to eat and screams like a crazy woman when we try to feed her. It only occurred on this container we're half way through. This explains her behavior, and honestly grosses me out.

Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
My Ped office recommended us using the RTF until further notice but honestly I am not paying the $$ for it. I bought the Target brand that is similar to Similac Sensitive but I am going to call the Dr again tomorrow to see about switching to Enfamil Gentlease.

Actually the guy I got when I called Similac said that they are telling the stores to charge less to make RTF equal in price to the powder. I didnt try it bc I switched brands but he said to make sure I told the store that.

Re: PSA ..... Recall on Similac Formulas
I just was able to get through on the website and the two containers of Similac Sensitive we have are recalled. I'm only grateful that I didn't order a case of it and I had the sense to pick up some RTF on the way home just in case.
