Do they plan on having a shower for you after the baby is born? That's what my nonna did for my mother. She also felt that it was bad luck to have gifts for the baby before it was born, but they had a welcome home party for her and the baby. Talk to your mom about doing that and see how she feels. If not, I would do it myself too.
