i found having a bouncer useful as well but more for after she was too big for the swing she liked chilling in the bouncer and it was a secure spot to put her when I needed to shower and was easy to put either in the bathroom or right outside the bathroom door.
Pretty much this.
Not sure what your home situation is, but we have a colonial and all bedrooms are upstairs. We spend most of the day downstairs and that's where we had the swing. We kept the bouncer upstairs.

Re: Rock N Play/Swing/Bouncer Question
I used all three.. Rock N Play for bedtime, Swing for naps, and bouncy seats (2) for everyday use, one upstairs and downstairs as a place to put DS when I shower or need to leave the room.

Re: Rock N Play/Swing/Bouncer Question
We did a swing and RNP and used both a lot. I out the RNP away at 4-5 mos but the swing stayed up till 13 mos! It came in handy when she was sick and was having a rough night!
I didn't do a bouncy seat but agree with others to get a fun bright one!
