Well I would go by the daycare rule, fever free, no green mucus and acting relatively normal.
I agree, I think it is unreasonable for people to expect you to keep your child home for a little cold. IMHO, no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea, no green mucus, it is fine
I agree! I hosted a gtg with a few mommies on here. Before they cam over, I explained that DS had a runny nose. They were fine with it so we kept it on. As it turned on, everyone's little noses were running! It is a winter thing, especially if kids go to school or daycare
I feel exactly the same way. DS's little nose has been running since October and he is not "sick." Most babies all have that going on during the winter months.

Re: should I bring a sick child to a playdate?
Being that Bella has had a runny nose and terrible cough since November I know how you feel.
Bella is not contagious and we are going back and forth between an allergist and my PED on whether she just has chronic post nasal drip/sinusitis or beginning stages of asthma...this is the third winter she has had this so they are leabing towards chronic sinus issues...
ANYHOO, Bella is fine to play with other, I just tell the moms and/or teachers the deal beforehand and as a PP said most kids have a runny nose like 75 percent of the time anyway.
Just an FYI, you should have your Ped take a look if she has had a consistent cough...it may be something with her sinuses and/or a drip...

Re: should I bring a sick child to a playdate?
I just went to one today - DS has a cold and an ear infection. I called the mom first and told her, she said it was totally fine since her kids all have runny noses too!!!
It's winter you can't stop the runny noses. A stomach virus, fever, etc now that's another story!!!

Re: should I bring a sick child to a playdate?
What a response! Wow! This was the hostess' reply to my e-mail:
Most of the kids coming go to school and are exposed anyway. As long as you feel it is mild, come on over- I know you could prob. use the outing!
I thought that was a fair response. I'm going to see how DD is doing tonight & tomorrow morning and make the call then. Runny nose & we're going. Cough & we'll stay home.

Yeah, I would probably have said the same thing. I was never hung up on germs though, I mean, my DS was at daycare when he was 8 weeks old. Now at 21 months, this kid is super immune boy!!!
