If so what did you think?
Do you plan to make any changes in your shopping/eating habits?

No-I'm sorry I missed it. I want to start feeding my family better (we eat pretty well but there is always room for improvement).

I have seen this a few weeks ago. We are slowly becoming an all organic family, but it will take time. DS already eats organic, but I think it's important for mommy and daddy to eat healthier as well.

Re: So did any of the mom watch Food Inc. on PBS last night?

We saw it on DVD, not last night and we made huge changes after watching it. We all eat 60-75% organic now, the babies eat 100% and Noah we are slowly changing as much as we can.

We are looking into purchasing Poultry and Beef from an organic Farm vs. the store now.

I have to say we had to make a lot of budget adjustments though b/c the increase in food costs were HUGE, but there is IMO nothing more important then what you give/put into your body and so its worth it. I'm stilla bit of a hypocrite in some areas, but small change is better then no change.

For those who missed it, it can be seen online until the 28th...

Food, Inc.

I saw it a while ago and have started to make changes...I find it's hard to weed through the b.s. and find things that are "true organic" though...

The USDA's definition of organic is 95% organic ingredients. One of the ways to buy healthier foods is to "count chemicals" If there are chemicals, food colorings, high fructose corn syrup, etc don't buy it. If you are going to buy meats from a local farmer it will probably not be designated as organic since they cannot meet the requirements put on my the gov't. Guarantee you it will be healthier than industrialized beef though.

Its too bad more people on LIF are not interested in this as we definitely have the membership to start a grassroots movement and affect change for many childrenChat Icon

What farm are you ordering from? I just recently was starting to think about this but I have no idea where to start and who is good.

Re: So did any of the mom watch Food Inc. on PBS last night?

I watched it. We're going to be buying more meats that are organic. We already don't buy a lot of preprocessed foods, so we're going to start with meats and milk products since those contain the antibiotics. Especially after hearing the chicken farmer talk about how she is allergic(or was it immune?) to all antibiotics now from her years of raising the chickens.

My pregnant hormones couldn't handle watching the woman who lost her 2 year old to E Coli. I completely lost it.

And I hate Monstanto.

I would like to know as well.
This is very sad , but I don't think we can afford to eat ALL organic Chat Icon but we are going to start buying more organic for DD (which we have been doing anyway) and we def want to start buying "organic" beef/poultry .

Can anyone recommend a farm/store where we can buy organic beef /poultry?

No..It talks about the corn industry, and about food manufacturing, things like that.

I had watched it about a month ago and it really changed my outlook on the food we eat. We now only eat organic meat, veggies/fruits, milk, cheese, eggs.. and slowly changing the rest.

I live very close to Makinajian and go there often. Their eggs are amazing! (They also have sheep and ducks running around which the DC can enjoy!)
