I guess I'm in the minority, I've been back to work since July and also switched to PT from FT and I still cannot get used to it.
you're not the only one. i HATE HATE HATE working with a passion and am very bitter about it each and every day. it doesn't get easier for me, it actually gets harder each day i'm away from DS.
to me it is 1000 times easier and better being home with my son than seeing him for an hour each day. being a working mom s**ks.
You are so right! When a SAHM complains how hard it is I think that they may not have been on both sides of the fence like I have. I do kn ow being a SAHM can be tough, but it does not compare in most situations. For me, the working mom life is far more difficult. It is emotionally draining to want to be home with your LO and need to work. Ughhhhh. I dread having to go back to my teaching job.
it's honestly so nice and refreshing reading a thread where people actually will say this out loud and not just think it!
i've been on both sides of the fence--i stayed home with DS for 7 months. i was also home with him for 2 months over the summer. my house was clean, fridge stocked, dinner cooked and best of all, i got to SEE my son!! we played, went to the park, did activities together and i was HAPPY!
now back at work i'm bitter and miserable. it's not an option to stay home financially and life is SO much harder. you just can't squeeze things in the way you can when you're home. when DS would nap, i would get stuff done around the house. there wasn't much relaxing time, but there isn't any when you're at work either so i don't expect to relax when i'm home with DS.
and now being 9 months pregnant, taking care of a toddler AND working full time, i'm ready to fall apart. no one except a working mom can even try to understand.
it's nice to hear there's more of us. we can support each other.
to the OP--i truly hope it will get easier for you. and if it doesn't, FM those of us who feel the same way and we can complain to each other

It definitely sucks-- no doub about it! You do get used to it, but it doesn't make it any better! I always feel like i am missing so much, even though my schedule isn't even that bad. I do live for the weekends! I miss her so much all week, that i never even want to go out w/o her and i think it annoys DH, who gets to hang out with her almost all week. I guess he just doesn't get it!

The first week is so tough and it's a huge adjustment for both of you. It gets easier. Hopefully, your DS will adjust better. At the beginning, mine would fall asleep shortly after getting home, but within a few weeks, he adjusted and we had more quality time together. I hope it gets better.

you may be right, I have been on both sides of the fence and I just LOVE being home with my baby now. while I was on maternity leave, not so much
