Re: Spelling a child's name different than the most common way...what's your feelings on it?
I grew up with an "odd" spelling of my name and while I don't think there is anything wrong with it and know that I am older I dont mind it and it makes other's remember me (which is great since I am in sales) but as a child I wasn't a fan... especially when it came to getting things with my name on it, I could never get a cup or a pencil or toy, etc with my name on it.
So I don't think there is a problem with it but with my experience as a child I named my DS and DD very traditional spelling names.

well we named our kid Jacen (jason), so obviously we don't have a problem with it. Why that spelling? My husband is a huge star wars fan and i like the name Jace for short.

my name is VERY different because my parents didn't want a traditional name. i am still scarred from not being able to find any barrettes or pens with my name on them. my name is always mispronounced and i just answer to it because its easier. i never give my real name when i order food or for a restaurant. as much as i love my name for it being different, i secretly dislike my parents for it.
and i agree with others, there is nothing more than people naming their kids with names with ' in them. SERIOUSLY, could you scar your child anymore? can you screw your child anymore so he or she just doesn't get a job?!?!?
