Thank you, I feel the same way. It's the crows or vultures or gangers. It was my first time. I'm cool with it though...not like I haven't seen it happen to others by the same people before...

How sad...

Boo-hoo... (that's me crying for how pathetic your life must be to be laughing at a regular poster who spent precious minutes of their life creating a new profile to mock me.) Boo. Boo. Hoo. Chat Icon

#1 - Learn how to take a joke...

#2 - Don't feel sorry for me sweetheart... I am just fine. My life, BTW is not pathetic at all. Even though I am going through many trials and tribulations right now, I am a joyous person, and find humor in light hearted things.

FTR- I had the most amazing pregnancy. I loved every.single.minute of it! I would do it again 100x in a heartbeat. That being said, the last month or so, I had an extremely hard time walking, I was out of breath, in constant pain, and **gasp** I actaully ran my own errandsChat Icon Therefore, I have used and did appreciate those PG spots at the ONE SINGLE SOLITARY store that had it near me. I have not used it since, even though I have a horrendously bad back and was schlepping an infant carrier, or now, a 30lb toddler. I am glad you had such a "snow white" pregnancy but those spots are designed for a reason. If you agree with it or not, too bad. When my back is in spasm, and I am on my way to the chiropractor, I do not use a handicapped spot, simply because it is not for ME, whether I like it or not!Chat Icon

Anywho.... have a lovely evening, and don't you worry your pretty little head over what I may or not find amusingChat Icon

I never park in a spot I'm not supposed to. Whether it is actually enforced or not - I look at it as common courtesy. A PG woman needs a closer spot more than me and heck, I could use the extra walking! Believe me! Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to the non parent thread...

The stop and shop we use has the parents with infants parking.

we park there when we are with dd, or it's just me and dd or dh and dd.

i do not park there when it's just me.

I think those spots serve a purpose and for this to become the drama that it has it just ridiculous.

To me it's pretty straight forward. I see it the same way I see a handicap spot, I don't park in those.

Re: Spinoff to the non parent thread...

Holy ugliness.

To answer the original question... I don't park in any spot that is designated for something I'm not - pregnant, carting around kids, handicapped, etc.. It's not because I'm morally superior - it's just that I see the sign, I figure it's designated for a reason and I find another place. Maybe I'm a stickler for the rules? And as I trudge whatever distance I need to, I remember to thank God that I have the means to be able to shop and that I have strong legs to carry me there.

Someone also asked why 'family' spots are there and if they are really necessary. I think the reason they exist is because it can be incredibly difficult and dangerous to unload kids from the car sometimes.. it's a juggling act and not easy to moniter a toddler while you are pulling out the infant. Also - those tend to be closer to cart returns - so you don't have to be faced with the choice of leaving your kid in the car while you wander across the parking lot returning the cart or leaving your cart shoved haphazardly up on the curb. And it's a convenience to be able to get your infant out of the cold as soon as possible. I do have 2 children - but since they are older and more manageable, I don't use those spots either.

When I was 8 months pregnant and waddling. It was so very nice to have those parking spots. I will only park there with dd if its very cold or too hot. Otherwise I have no problem walking.

I also cant stand when people drive around for an hour looking for the closest spot when it's just two perfectly capable adults who can walk just fine.

I've parked in one of those spots before, and at the time I remember thinking 'just because you have kids with you, you get a better spot? - how unfair' As other posters said.. why not a spot for the elderly, why not for someone on crutches, why not for someone who just doesn't feel well that day?

I agree there should be elderly spots- but I think the point of the family parking is NOT to make it easier on the mother- but to keep small children from having to walk through a busy parking lot (which, I've heard, is where something like 90% of accidents happen) thereby reducing the chance that they will get hurt.

Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I always thought about it.

ETA: Maybe they should just reserve the first few spots after handicap parking for "Close spots for those who need them" then everyone would be covered...and those who don't need them can park there with any justification they wish.

The best is when you see this at the GYM.
You are parking to go into the gym to work out and exercise- yet you have to drive around to find a spot that is closer to avoid walking an extra 10 feet!

lol- this drives me crazy too!!

A word of caution though- my mom once parked far away from an entrance and other cars when she got a new car (this was back in the 80's when I was little) and her car was stolen. It was easier to break into the car without being noticed because it was far away.

I also have to add- that it drives me nuts to see every Energy Efficient Vehicle spot taken at Tanger- and not ONE car is Efficient. I'm always tempted to leave little notes...but then that would make me look sad and pathetic. lol

That is so true!!! Chat Icon

I am the one who parks far away because it is just easier then driving around finding a close spots. Plus, there's less chance of getting dings on the car. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to the non parent thread...

When I was trying to get that infant carrier out of the back seat of the car, you wanted me to have a little extra wiggle room that they sometimes have in those spots, believe me. Chat Icon

I only used them when I was VERY pregnant or when I had the infant seat. Once I had the baby, I generally parked closer to the cart corral, since I found that easier. I didn't/don't want to leave the baby unattended in the car even if it's locked to return the cart.

It's common courtesy. But since I see all kinds of people park in handicapped spots, I am not at all surprised that people park in these spots when they clearly don't need them. If I saw someone park in a "family spot" that was elderly or on crutches, I wouldn't think twice, I'd just figure that like a pregnant woman or mom with young children, it was easier for them to be close.

Wow, this thread is still going, like the energizer bunny. Maybe that should be a new icon - the bunny. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to the non parent thread...

why don't they have these in LIRR parking lots? Now that would be great!

My DH always parks so far away, we never even get close enough to the front to see if there are special spots. Never seen one before- but now I'm going to look for them.
