Sorry to crash, but my sister was diagnosed with the same thing after having her baby in January. Her left ventricular function was down to approx. 20% when she was diagnosed, but according to her most recent echo, it's already back to approx 50%, so don't give up hope!
She did find some help and support through an online group called A Mother's Heart.
She needed to try a few cardiologists before she found one that she is happy with. I'm not sure if his name, but I can get it from her, if you'd like.

So glad that you went to the Dr! It's very overwhelming to hear that diagnosis (we actually have an ongoing debate about how the term "heart failure" really should be changed to something else because it can be so misleading. It gives the impression that the heart is on its final legs, when, really, that's not the case at all). Try not to google, but DO look for a great cardiologist- then bombard him/her with all of your questions. Every diagnosis- no matter how popular it may be- is so different for each person. Reading about other people's worst case scenarios isn't going to help you in any way.
I'm not sure how much your Dr has told you, but if i could offer up a few tips:
- take your weight every day (at the same time every morning, when you wake up, after you do your morning pee). If this weight goes up by 2lbs in one day or 3 lbs in a week, call your Dr. (its good to write it down on a piece of paper to keep track- just write the date and weight- simple but useful!)
- monitor yourself daily for any new swelling and call your Dr if new swelling is noted- anywhere.
- if you notice any major changes in your urinary pattern (significantly more or less urine in a day) call your MD.
I know it seems like so much to take in right now, but try not to let it overwhelm you. It is very manageable! The key is to just keep doing what you've been doing this whole time- pay attention to your body and if something seems 'off' or any different from what it is right now, let your Dr know right away- it makes controlling it so much easier! Good luck!
