Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
For me to be wearing my 4" heels at 26 weeks PG and to plan to continue to wear them for as long as I am comfortable ???
Other than people's 'are you crazy?' reactions JUST b/c I'm pregnant and for some reason they think I should look frumpy and 'be comfortable' .........Is there any sort of medical or safety or foot/leg/back effecting reason I should have to give up my sbeloved hoes ???
B/c I'm not a jackass - If I was uncomfortable, I wouldn't wear them -

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
not sure about the medical reasons, but I love my heels too (oh, how I miss them!) and had to stop wearing them because my balance was waaay off. I felt down an entire flight of stairs one time, and had to be rushed to the ER. Luckily DD was fine, and I just got some bruising. A few times I almost slipped, and I was wearing flats!
Just be careful!

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
Just wear what you are comfortable with. I gave up the skinny heals for this winter only because I don't want to slip on the ice, etc. I wanted more grip. But if you love them then who gives a c r a p!!

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I have a co-worker who loves heels. She said she wore heels throughout her pregnancy and still wears them when she carries her 1 year old baby around.
I remember when I was in my teens/twenties, I NEVER thought I'd wear flats. I've grown so used to my comfy shoes. I wonder if I will ever go back to my heels. Personally I can't imagine myself carrying a baby/pushing a stroller in heels.

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I say as long as your comfortable. That said though- as you get bigger, your center of balance will be different and safety *may* become an issue.
By the end, my feet were so swollen anything more than sneakers and flip flops were too much....

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I think its because your center of gravity is off... making you off balance... so you are more likely to fall. I remember my friend was like 13 weeks and people were like "Did you see those heels?" I didn't get it then... anyway... Kelly Ripa wore heels the whole pregnancy... and i think its okay as long as you feel like your not going to fall?

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
Truth be told - I do NOT wear them to walk across town - I put them on when I get to the office - I wear my UGGS for the commute -
And if I wear them on the weekend, it's walking from the car to wherever my final destination may be ........
Oh and I don't plan on pushing the stroller through the park in my stilletos !!

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
No biggie... I know people who wore heels their entire pregnancy.
Me on the other hand... can't do it. I'm at the point now where I can't even wear my sneakers or other slip on shoes. I get to work, and my shoes come off under my desk b/c my feet are just so swollen.

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
Ok so it's simply a matter of comfort and common sense .........If I get swollen and uncomfortable or I feel off balance and unstable as I get bigger, obviiously, they go in the closet until Baby K is born ........

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
towards the end your joints also become looser (so i've been told) so there's more of a risk of your ankles giving out, etc. but according to everyone i've talked to you feel that happening and i'd imagine heels wouldn't be comfortable at that point anyway...

As long as you are comfy, go for it. My feel swelled up so badly all I could wear were this hideous pair of Keds. It was agonizing.

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I'm wearing boots with a 3.5" heal right now. I don't think there is anything wrong with it as long as you're comfortable. The only thing I've found is that I can't wear stilletos anymore- they have to be slightly thicker heels because I don't seem to have the balance I used to have.

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
As long as they are comfortable, why not? I held out on my heels as long as I could too but by 30 weeks there was no way- I would be in agony in my lower back.

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
Yes, it's REALLY that bad when I cannot even be comfortable in 2 inch heels when I'm not prego and a 26 weeker can wear 4 inches! What the Jelly-O! My feet hate me!!!!
But I agree, if there is no medical reason and your dr is good with it, I'd wear them and just be careful!
The soap opera chick who hosts The Biggest Loser was wearing stillettos at the finale a few weeks before her due date! Granted she was only standing still!

i wore heels until i found that i wsa more comfortable in comfy shoes. i found that my feet would swell up more in heels... as long as you are comfortable, wear them! i think people get ansty b.c pregnant women lose their balance easier...
otherwise, wear them! n be proud!

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I wore my heels as long as possible-I didn't give them up until week 37, I think. I was so used to wearing them that I think it was safer for me to be in heels than not
When my feet were too fat to wear my cute heels I bought a bigger size so I could still wear them. That said, my feet have yet to shrink back to normal size and most of my cute heels sit in the closet (DD is 17 months so this may be a permanent thing-so sad )
I say wear 'em if you got 'em.

I did the same until I was about 6 months pregnant, and accidentally slipped down the stairs Then it was all about flip flops and flats for me! But I doubt you're nearly as clumsy as I am!

Re: Tell me the Truth - Is it REALLY that bad
I'm not a heel girl pre-pregnancy, but as long as you're comfortable, enjoy your heels as long as you can.
me personally, I've been in flat since 20 weeks and wearing sneakers to/from/at work since 30 weeks.
