Easier said than done. Small towns = everyone knows your name. If you want to avoid telling anyone you also can't go where people would know you.
I think it's easy to say that's what you would do, but until you are in the siutation you never know.
Case closed
Nobody said life was easy.
my god! have a heart!!! this person just shared an incredibly painful story - and all you have to say is life isn't easy? you've said some terrible things to ruffle feathers in the past - but this is disgusting!!!
I appreciate her sharing the story... but things happen in life. Like previously said... luxuries are not always an option.
Regardless of what the public thinks... small town or not... I think you owe it to yourself to make sure you take proper care of your own body.

This is semi-graphic, so please don’t read if you don’t want to.
I’m also posting anonymously for obvious reasons. I was 13 years old when someone I worked with where I volunteered sexually assaulted me.
He started first by trying to touch me when we had taken some of the kids we worked with to a theme park. He snuck his way into my seat on those “swings” that take you across the park in the air. While we were up there he tried to touch my breasts. Luckily (?) I had also grabbed one of the kids we were watching and she was in the middle, so I was able to get him to stop. After we “landed” I ran away from him.
I thought it was over.
About a week later I was setting up for arts and crafts while the kids were on the playground. He came into the gym and asked why I didn’t like him. I tried to leave and when I did, he pushed me up against the wall between the bleachers and told me he loved me. Then he tried to kiss me. I tried to push him away, but he was a lot bigger than me and he pinned me and told me if I screamed, the kids would come running and I would be responsible for hurting them. I stupidly listened. While he didn’t get to “actually” rape me, he did manage to penetrate me with his hand, ripping my hymen and causing me to bleed.
As we heard the whistle and the kids coming back, he stopped and left the gym. I told the counselor I worked for that I was sick and had to go home, and walked the 2 miles to my house in pain.
I never turned him in. I regret that now. But I was 13 and scared – they only thing I was thankful for was that there was no chance of pregnancy. If there was, I would have been extremely thankful for the morning after pill because there was no way I was going to a hospital or the police.
I never told my parents, my sister, or even any friends - only DH really knows the whole thing.
It’s scary and painful and the last thing you would want to worry about is whether you could get the medication you need to ensure you didn’t get pregnant.
Sorry
Thank you for sharing your story. You are brave and I hope you have found peace
I'm so sorry this happened to you. NO ONE should ever have to go through something like this. You are a strong and brave woman to share this with us now.

You don't have to agree with the lawsuit, but you could at least show some compassion for rape victims, especially the ones who shared their story.

Wow!! You know, I never get into any of the ridiculous arguments you make because, quite frankly, you exhaust me and I sometimes realy wonder if you just take pleasure in trying to get a rise out of people whether you believe in what you are saying or not, but you are out of control! Someone comes on here and tells about one of the most painful experiences of her life, and your response is "Nobody said life was easy"? Are you F-ing kidding me?!?!! What the heck is wrong with you?!!!

I don't think anyone on this thread is being dreamy or unrealistic ... they are being very realistic of what goes on in this world... the difference is, you lack the tact and couth that everyone else on these boards seem to have. I didn't expect anything less from you, i don't know why everyone else seems so surprised by his remarks.

I am not saying "thats life" in response to getting raped.
When I said "thats life" i was referring to the point about living in a small town and having to go through a narrower channel to get something.
Rape is a horrible thing. I know less than a quarter get reported.
But this lawsuit is bogus... and unfortunately the only way to prove my point is to bring up some very REAL issues that exist.

i know someone who uses it as birth control and i really dont like that. instead of just protecting herself she just goes and gets the pill. but then there are those girls who are raped, etc and its sad if they cant have access to it.
its a tough situation
Jessica... I couldnt agree with you MORE!!!!!!
Me personally...Im very Pro life...... but also believe to each thier own....
Too many people dont protect themselves properly and figure well.. if something happens, Ill have an abortion or take the morning after pill!!! I have friends who rarely use condoms, and refuse to go on the pill (because they dont feel its "healthy" for their body.... the MAP... or having the actual abortion is...????? People need to be responsibile...if they dont wanna have a baby they need to do eveything in their power to not get preg...meaning usuing a form of BC or even abstinence!!! (if sh!t still happens, and i know it does I got preg on the pill...then you make the decision for whats right for you)
There is major controversy as of to whether or not the MAP is considered abortion.... To me....it does the same exact thing an abortion does, w/o the medical procedure (if indeed the woman is actually preg) which is ending the growth of a zygote/fetus (if you are taking the other pill that can be used up til 12 weeks)

Re: The Morning After Pill
Like I said... i never meant to make anyone feel that I don't think rape is a bad thing.
Its probably one of the worst things that can happen to a woman... and one of the things i fear the most about happening to my wife.
But people are taking my views about this LAWSUIT and skewing them into thinking that i dont care about rape.

There is no implantation that takes place with this pill.. I would be against it if it were an abortion pill.

and unsafe. It is meant as EMERGENCY contraception, not regular. If your friends are using it as their usual form of birth control, they will end up hurting themselves.
As I said several times before, just because a few abuse something, doesn't mean that it should not be available to the masses who will use it as it was intended.
Think about kids who get high on white out or cleaning products, or drunk on Nyquil. You can't pull those from the shelves. Not to mention all those who get addicted to perscription drugs, or who use ridilin or viagra as a high instead of what they were meant for.

Re: The Morning After Pill
I thought the MAP was in case you got preg. it aboarded the baby...??
There is another pill out that does that further along in preg. maybe im confusing them....
Either way having this pill otc...is giving people esp. kids, all the more reason to have unprotected sex...opening them up to all different std's....

Some ways aren't as pretty as others. But there are ways.
I don't think everyone who might need the morning after pill can necessarily get one if places like Walmart don't dispense it. What about the women without cars or internet access? What about the scared teenagers? I don't think saying just go to the hospital is the solution especially if these women are rape victims. Unless we've been in the situation, we don't know what goes through a rape victim's mind. I don't think going to the hospital is every victim's first thought. If the pill is legal, I don't think pharmacies should decide whether or not to carry it. I doubt they make similar decisions for other types of prescriptions.
