Wow! The one thing I have learned from skimming through this thread is that America is far too concerned with what goes on in their neighbors bedrooms, what goes on when someone gets raped, what someone else may be buying at a pharmacy to take for whatever reason.

I think everyone should be concerned about themselves, their children and their own families....maybe if more Americans did this the country wouldn't be riddled with so many problems

I'm not so concerned with someone else's bedroom as I am for myself. Someday it could be me who this effects.

Pepole are making this a debate about the pill itself. This thread is not about if you support the morning after pill, what this thread did start out as is a discussion on whether or not Walmart is required by state law to carry the medicine.

If you are against the morning after pill then you are against any and all birth control pills.

thats what i was thining. I'm curious if alot of people that are anti the MAP have ever been on "The pill". The regular pill that many women take clearly states on the description that it also serves as a 'Morning after pill'

I realize that but from reading through this lengthy thread it seemed that people were going off onto other debates...not so much the question at hand

Would you be upset if you went to get your prescription filled (that you can legally have) and your pharmacist said no?

Its not he abortion pill its the morning after pill.
Theres a difference.

If you are against the morning after pill then you are against any and all birth control pills.

i don't look at the morning after pill as birth control per say

i just don't...and to be honest i think it is dangerous to do so...

IMO that should be prescribed by a doctor...
Just like you can't just go to a doc and get BC pills

Pills imo shouldn't be over the counter like that..

I was gonna say that before.....

Why would they be putting the MAP otc before reg pills?

I guess I just look at it is that lawsuits pave the way for new laws.

Also, what if every pharmicist started saying well if Walmart isn't selling it to you, either will I....all of a sudden before you know it there could be NO PLACE that will sell it to you.

Im not saying whether i agree or disagree with this aspect of it.. just playing devils advocate...

the 'regular pill' is usually a decision that is made to Plan to not have kids- so going to the doctor, and filling a prescription is usually planned beforehand. Those who plan (or dont plan) with other methods that fail, are basically acting under the gun. In a case like that, i feel like its 2 different things.

hmmmmmmmmm now you have me thinking

well i guess IMO has been revised then
what i am saying is that i think that if prescribed by a doc...it should be stocked, over the counter medications i don't think a pharmacy HAS to stock...I think that should be up to them...

Every Pharmacy doesn't have every single drug, pill that is over the counter out there

That will never happen.

Remember above all... this is a BUSINESS. I am sure there are plenty of pharmacies out there that will wish this happen. Then since they have the demand... they can up the price of the medication which means more $$$$ for them.

Re: The Morning After Pill

I see what your saying.....but medically, if there the same thing (different reason... but from what you said before there chemically the same thing).....why not have reg BC out there as well..????

I dont see why walmart should have to carry ANYTHING they dont want too.... Some places dont carry certain things...the end!

As I said before..... I think I confuse the MAP and the "abortion" pill with eachother alot.... however Im just not seeing how the MAP and reg BC are the same thing?????

Someone said before, because there is no implantation....but how do you know????? How do you know that the day you swallow the pill, is not the day your zygote started forming????

Im not trying to be sarcastic... im just really confused!

in many other parts of the country walmart is the neighborhood grocery store & pharmacy. It might not be like that in NY but it is like that in other parts of the country. So they really cant just go to a different store to get what they need in this case the MAP.

I wish I didn't see the thread. Chat Icon I should know better than to stay away from these heated feminine debates.

I am normally good at it too. But since it involved WalMart as the centerpiece... i couldn't resist. Chat Icon

It all depends on when you think "life" starts.
The morning after pill can only be used up to 72 hours after intercourse. It takes an egg 6-12 days before it implants and starts producing HCG.
The morning after pill, like BC, makes implantation not possible.

Does that help? If not, let me know and I will try to explain a different way.
