I didn't see it mentioned.. (unless i missed it) but I've started using Dr. Bronners castile soap, which is organic. I got some for me, and some baby unscented for DD. So far so good. Dr. Bronners also has an all purpose cleanser, but I haven't tried that yet.
I'm slowly trying to switch most of our stuff to organic. I've also started using the "oil cleansing method" to clean my face. Castor oil and sunflower oil. another so far so good.
Any recommended deoderants? I've tried the cotton one from Trader Joes and it seems to work pretty well.
How about hair products?
I use Dr. Brommers on DD once in a while too. It dried DD's skin a bit so I only use it in the summer when it is not so dry. As for face stuff I use Alba Organics Hawaiian Line and I use the Kiss my face product line for deodorants, shampoo/conditioner, soaps, toothpaste, etc. HTH

Also, did you try the diaper rash cream? I rarely need it on DD and have been using A&D because that's what we had and it didn't bother her, but I'd love to switch to organic.
I use plain old vasiline or triple paste when she has a bad rash. HTH
Yes, thank you!! I will pick up one of them. What brand Vaseline though? I have a hard time finding one w/o fragrance, etc.
BTW, I LOVE this thread, so informative & helpful!!!
They have one that is JUST plain 'ol vasiline, no scent, no frills. They also have a "baby" one that smells like baby powder if you want that.

Nope, I prefer no scent. I'll have to search harder, thanks!

Re: The Official Organic Moms Thread
I did try the Gerber Organic freeze dried fruits and he loved them, And I mean LOVED them....much more then puffs, which I try not to give too much of, some of the ingredients scare me.
And I did try the diaper rash cream( Erba organics) and it worked better then the desitin and balmex I tore through recently.
I also use A and D ointment .
Noah only gets a small tiny bit of diaper rash but that little bit gets raw and bleeds, this cream worked VERY well ( in one day it was better) p.s It smells good. I hated the smell of california baby.

Re: The Official Organic Moms Thread
Great thread!!!!!!!!!
If anyone is looking for an organic alternative to the gerber puffs - you might want to try BABY MUM MUMS - it's rice rusk. It's a long wafer type cracker that dissolves in the mouth. DD started eating them at around 9 months. She LOVES LOVES LOVES them and she can hold them and take bites - which is fantastic for mom and dad when we are sitting at the table and want to eat in peace.
for cleaning - I use vinegar and water in a spray bottle. It cleans everything!

what do you think of Sodium Laureth/Laurate Sulfate? I was disappointed to find that its an ingredients in most of these brands.
I bought Naked Naturals shampoo and conditioner today at Hannaford because they seemed one of the only ones without it. I've used it before and liked it....

I buy it at the local market in my neighborhood (long island city) but you can also get them on the internet. They're from Japan so I imagine an Asian foods store would have them.
They have loads at the store in my neighborhood - so I can pick some up for you if you'd like. A box of 24 crackers (they're big!) is like $4

Re: The Official Organic Moms Thread
I love this thread.
I have a question. When DS teethes, he has a bad rash on his face that sometimes bleeds. I know I can use vaseline, but I am trying to get rid of any petroleum based products. I have Kiss my face for me, but it is scented and I am afraid that his skin is too sensitive. Is there a milk-based maybe or completely safe for sensitive skin lotion that anyone has tried?
I wash him with the Little Goat Goat's milk soap.

Re: The Official Organic Moms Thread
I haven't really done research on the ingredients...but I'm starting to like the Weleda brand.
I got some from a friend when DD was born and I decided to give it a shot.

Does anyone know where I can buy organic rice, barley, and oatmeal cereal. I know Gerber makes it but I cannot find it anywhere. I have already checked Pathmark and Stop & Shop.

When I was looking 2 months ago, Gerber Organic cerelas had been recalled b/c of larger clumps. We went CRAZY looking for it, finally saw a sign explaining why they were not on the shelves at Target. Now we use Earth's Best, love it! You can find Earth's Best in Wal-Mart, BRU, etc.
