Time to quit cold turkey? (bottles)
DS is 18 mos and know how to drink from spout and straw sippys no problem. BUT he HAS to have his milk from his bottle (Tommee Tippee). I've tried everything - milk in both kinds of sippys, milk in tetra packs, Enfagrow in tetra pack and sippys, the sippy that looks like a bottle with a nipple more on the side, warm, cold, you name it! He will either not drink it and push it away or throw it in a fit. Right now he has 3 bottles a day, 7-8 oz each with room temp milk (approx 10:30am, 3:00pm, 8:00pm).
Do I need to just pack up the bottles and show him it's sippy or nothing?
I swear, when #2 comes along that kid will be drinking milk/formula/everything from a sippy by 8 months!

You will get differing opinions on this of course.
*I* would pack up the bottles.
If he refuses milk, but eats yogurt and cheese or other sources of calcium, he'll be just fine.

Re: Time to quit cold turkey? (bottles)
I went cold turkey with DD at 17 months and she was pissssssssed. She wanted nothing to do with milk in anything other than a bottle. Needless to say, her milk consumption dropped (which was fine since she was eating real food all the time anyway) but after revolting for like 3-4 days she eventually just gave up and started drinking from sippy cups.
Just stick with it. Your LO will probably be annoyed at first but IMO it's so much easier to go cold turkey then to gradually phase them out. DD got over it quickly. Good luck!

Re: Time to quit cold turkey? (bottles)
I could have written this exactly, only my DS is 15 months. (i actually posed the same thing on monday) He was drinking that much milk as well, but now im lucky if i get him to drink 1oz out of his sippy cup. My doctor told me his milk consumption should not have been that much anyway. As long as he has yogurt or cheese i feel a little better. It has only been a week so far, so i am hopping he will eventually take to the sippy!

Time to quit cold turkey? (bottles)
I have off this coming Mon-Wed,, so I think I might have to do it then. I'm so not excited for this.
He does like yogurt, and grilled cheese. Any other toddler friendly high in calcium suggestions?

Re: Time to quit cold turkey? (bottles)
I would go cold turkey and get rid of the bottle. My DD was off hers by 13 mths. I know someone whose DC is 4 and they still give it. It just becomes all the harder as time goes on to take away. Do it now.

I agree. The longer you wait, the harder it will be.

Same thing over here! DD will be 16 months. I'm a FTWM so I feel bad doing it (for her and babysitter) while I am at work. I;m a teacher and have off spring break at the end of the month so I am thinking of doing it then.
ETA: My ped told me at her 15 month that "she won't give you the bottles on her own so you just have to make the decision and do it." Yeah......still working on it, it's me, not her.
