Toddler Moms...question for you
For the last week I've noticed that when Lucas goes down to bed he snuggles with his blanket and teddy bear all quiet but when I leave the room he starts babbling...laughing...trying out all his words. Eventually he falls asleep.
Is this what happens as they get more words and start talking? Is it just going to get worse

Re: Toddler Moms...question for you
mikayla does this all the time....she can talk to herself for up to an hour before falling asleep. I think it is great that she can put herself to sleep....but boy, do I miss rocking her (gasp, did I JUST say that)

Re: Toddler Moms...question for you
I just read this book called the Tipping Point and someone in the book (I forget if she was a psychologist or what) .. anyway, someone in the book taped her daughter every night when she went to bed. If I can remember it right, what they found was that the daughter was so much more verbal and understanding of her world than they gave her credit for. Every night she would talk to her animals/dolls and tell them about her day and talk about the next day.
My point is, they came to the conclusion that children sort out their ideas of the world when relaxed and alone - they practice speaking and socialization and putting this crazy world in order.
The funny thing about it was this little girl would tell her dolls about her day, but would elaborate it so that it was her 'perfect day' ...
So I think what Lucas is doing is perfectly normal and it will continue to develop as he gets older and his vocabulary gets better.

Re: Toddler Moms...question for you
DS will talk/babble when he wakes up. Recently I have heard him singing at night. He sings this mommy song "mama mama mommy ma MOMMeeeeeee". It is so cute DS was never a big talker now it seems over night he wont stop talking and repeats everything!

Re: Toddler Moms...question for you
DS has JUST started doing this. I used to put him in bed and he would roll over and be asleep within minutes if not seconds. Now lately, I lay him down, he turns his crib soother on, walks around, talks, whines (sometimes).... but it can take sometimes (like last night) 45 minutes or so to finally go to sleep.... I am HOPING it's a normal developmental thing. Thanks for posting this though, at least I know he's not out of the norm with it.
