Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
I would wait up to 1 hour.
For offices that I know there is a long wait, I will ask or arrange for the FIRST appointment of the day

Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
A gastro in the city consistently makes me wait..they are fired.
gyns and Obs have emergencies and I understand that. Any other doctor will have emergencies every now and then but not all of the time.
If I were you I would tell them they are fired, you are their customer and there are other doctors out there who will gladly see you and not waste your time.
How farking rude.

If I had an appointment and waited for 2 hours.... well, I would've been gone after 1 hour.
No appointment... I'd suck it up and wait.
Ditto...

30 minutes then I go up to the front desk and give them another 5 minutes. I can't wait too longfor anyone, my mood changes after 30 minutes.

Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
I would never wait that long! Unless it was a life or death situation and it was the best doctor, I would never wait longer than 45 minutes. I get that stuff comes up and interferes with their schedules, but anything over 45 minutes is ridiculous to me.

Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
It depends....I used to go to an immediate care facility for my regular doctor, and if I had an appt I wouldn't wait more than 45 mins (generally if I had an appt I needed a physical or something that wasn't a high priority - I didn't want to sit forever with a ton of sick people and then get sick). If I didn't have an appt - which means that I was sick and needed to be at the doctor's anyway, then I would wait it out.
I left another doctor because they were always double or triple booked. I would have an 8:30 am appt and not get into the room for an hour or more, and then I would wait another 45 mins in the room. There were a LOT of elderly patients in the practice, and the support staff would always tell me how demanding they are and how much time they would need for nothing.
Now I'm really lucky. At my PCP I can always get an appt same day, and when I get there the longest I've had to wait was about 30 mins...and that was about a week before my doctor went for back surgery, so he could barely move. At my OB, I've only had a long wait (one hour) once and that was because they had a lot of emergency c-sections that day and were pulling doctors that weren't even on call that day just to handle all the births. If I don't have a sono, I'm usually out the door 30 mins after I get there.

Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
the only time i've waited 2 hours was at 38 weeks pregnant to see the OB. it was for a 6:30 appt, it was almost 8:30 when they called me in.
and the other dr. delivering there left the practice with no notice, so he was swamped with all these pregnant ladies. I understood.
on a normal basis..No..I would make a stink after an hour and reschedule.

1 hour max. I usually don't have to wait nearly that long though.

The most I'm willing to wait is one hour because at that point I am FUMING! I can't even imagine waiting two hours.

I used to regularly wait at my original ob-gyn for 2 hours. I loved her, so I didn't mind all that much.

If it's a really good doctor that I like and I know to expect the wait, I'll wait. Otherwise probably an hour or so.

Re: Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
Just had to add, one time they left me waiting for so long, I was STEAMING by the time they took me. They took my blood pressure and told me it was high and asked if something was bothering me...
I'm like "yeah i'm MAD because you guys left me waiting for AN HOUR!!!!!!!"

Re: UPDATE - you would NOT believe...Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
OMG...I just read your update - that is UNACCEPTABLE!!! What a terrible way to treat a patient. It is not your job to keep track of their schedule. When the new receptionist took over, the others should have informed her that you had been waiting there for your 2:00 appointment.
I am so for you, and hope that you get some answers soon. I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been well.

Re: UPDATE - you would NOT believe...Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
That was a horrible experience.
I have had to wait 2+ hours at my primary cares office. (it is a practice with about 5 doctors) No joke a man once went into cardiac arrest in the waiting room. From that day on, I only take the first Saturday appointment available or the last appointment my doctor has on her late night. My first Neurologist appointment I waited 1 hour. I had no right to complain since he squeezed me in the day before. My choice was wait once I was squeezed in or not get an appointment for 6 weeks.

My hematologist is usually a good hour and a half wait
My gyno and peri natologist - 2 hours usually.
Ridiculous, but they are good Drs and I don't want to switch

Re: UPDATE - you would NOT believe...Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
1 hour max, then I'd walk out. And there better be a good reason why I'm waiting almost an hour......
Although I know there is a a OBGYN who's very popular with the girls on here. I remember waiting over an hour for the nurse....... purely because this place over scheduled all the time. After the the third time of it I switched and decided no doctor was worth me wasting that much of my time on a continual basis

Re: UPDATE - you would NOT believe...Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
WHAT! That is insanity!!! Talk about adding insult to injury. And who the ^%$$ are you to yell at me?!
I would give such horrible reviews to that office on any website that would listen to me.
I once waited 2 h for a specialist in the city at Columbia Pres. They also didn't keep track of me even though I was in front of their face and asked what was up after an hour. I got a "Press Ganey" survey in the mail (patients at hospitals are now getting these patient satisfaction surveys that actually impact hospital reimbursment!!) and I banged them on this. The doc was great but staff and wait time s ucked.

Re: UPDATE - you would NOT believe...Here's a practical question...how long would you wait at a Drs office?
i am so sorry this happened to you.. it was definitely the staff's fault. its their job !!
i used to work for a orthopedic surgeon and i ended up quitting after a year because i couldnt take how i got treated any longer. the patients typically waited well over an hour.. and why.. because he was ALWAYS at the hospital caught up in a surgery.. yea i get that.. but this was everyday.. and I always got an ear full from the patients. i felt TERRIBLE.. i know the feeling, i am a patient at doctors as well. i couldn't take the stress anymore of that job so i left.. too much!
