Updated Again: So I set up the intervew, and then I got *another* interview
So as many of you have been following my saga, I got a job for the city. It will take at least a month to do my processing- so I won't be starting until around New Years.
This was after months and months of applying to jobs.
Well, I just got a letter from the FDIC that they want to interview me. I almost didn't open it because I thought it was a standard rejection letter.
So should I set up the interview?
I am leaning towards going on the interview, because you never know. The job could fall through- especially with Bloomberg's talk about cutting jobs- or I could fail the background check (whihc I doubt) or I the commissioner who has to give the final approval doesn't like me...
And if I get the job- well I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
UPDATE: So I set up the interview for Monday!! I am so excited. Honestly, this job sounds better than the one I am supposed to start next year. We'll see...
If I get it, I have no idea what I will do. But we'll cross that bridge....
UPDATE: So a headhunter called me coming across my resume. I got a bunch of them that went nowhere. Well now this firm wants to interview me! SO I have TWO interviews set for next week. And this job pays so much more than what the job I accepted makes (which I could REALLY use)! We'll see...
I'm very excited, but I also feel a little guilty- like I'm "cheating" on my new job. But I haven't been given a start date, and I still have to meet with the commissioner... so I'm being smart and protecting myself- right?

Re: WWYD?
Yes, yes...there is no downside to interviewing. Knowing you have another job could give you confidence and having another job could give you some negotiating power if they are really conisdering you.
