Anything with:

Bows
Poofy rosettes or flowers of any type
Ruffles
Ribbons
Lace

And anything so pink that it reminds you of a repeat of Petpo on a bad day.

I *HATE* extra girly crap. She’s a baby, she’s a girl, great, ……. do we have to make her so sticky sweet in that stuff? Give the girl some self esteem. Make it original, make it baby but STOP oh god Please STOP making her into a toy for baby clothes.. YUK

**** Don’t get me wrong, I bought her a cute little green jumper with turtles on it that had a small (very small) pink frill along the neck line and the turtles had green/pink shells. See that’s fine, its not over doing it. Some pink is ok, but I hate the Petpo wash look

ETA:
I know I’ll get some (I already have) and that’s ok, again in small amounts, I really don’t want a wardrobe of this stuff

I don't like baby boy clothes with things all over it - trucks, dogs, etc.

I agree. I don't like certain baby boy items that are too cheesy or nerdy looking.

I thought of another one. I don't mind small discreet bows, headbands or barrettes, but those huge flowers on the tops of little girls' heads make me nuts. I don't want her to look like she has a bouquet on her head.

I agree. I hate the bows for on top of the head that remind me of something they would wear on Little House on the Prarie. Picture Nellie Olsen with bows on her head or some extremely nerdy Sunday school outfit back in the day.Chat Icon

Yes! Not a fan of these either, esp for little girls. Not at all. I have a cousin that constantly dresses her DD in this. I hate it. Reminds me of something a "cougar" would wear. Chat Icon

This wouldn't apply until she is older but if I have a girl - no baby dolls. No Baby Pees-on-Me, no Baby-Burps-In-Your-Face-Alot, etc. Gross. No strollers and baby bottles.

If I have a boy, no toy guns. They will go in the garbage. Except colorful water guns which are technically "squirters". Chat Icon

I usually adore you Lauren and I am one of your biggest fans so PLEASE do not take offense when I ask you to stay far away from my child! Kisses!

Oh and I have a strong dislike for animal prints too.

Characters, matching outfits, stuffed animals in excess.

Also my in laws are very exorbitant(IMO) gift givers. At Christams they spend almost $1000 on each person(including kids) We do not want a whole bunch of toys cluttering up our house and would like a couple of items. If they feel the need to spend more than that we would like them to put the $$ in a college fund instead.

Wow, I am surprised to see so many people dislike characters! I don't mind them so much, not a fan of Pooh though for some reason.

You know, you may be on to something. If people can have honeymoon registries, why not have a 529 registry where people can contribute to your child's future. Hmmmm.

No characters or cartoons.

If i'm having a girl, nothing too pink. I hate pink altogether, that's just me and i know she'll need to wear a little pink, but I can't deal with pink head to toe. Same if I have a boy, no blue from head to toe, and I agree, no sailor suits. Oh, and no tank tops or sleeveless shirts if I have a boy. Don't ask me why, I have a friend that always has her little boy in tank tops and sleeveless shirts and it irks me. Yes I'm weird. Chat Icon

I'm not a fan of sleeveless shirts on boys/men either.

Go on and on, please! I find it interesting to see what people dislike and what people like.

They are big on every child getting the same amount of "stuff." We have an aversion to stuff and do not want our kids to be so obsessed with material items-we're pretty big on experience rather than monetary items....I think you can open a 529 or something similar and let people contribute. I will ask my friend who is a financial planner

Just curious why wouldn't you let your child have dolls and a stroller? My DD loves her dolls and walking them in the stroller.

Not a fan of characters, no pooh (praying to god, my MIL doesn't knit another ginormous Pooh blanket for the twins).

For boys, i'm not a fan of puppies, fire trucks and most of what i've seen in the stores now that i've started to look.

i don't mind Sailor suits, DH is a sailor so its kind of cute for our kids
