Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
My BFF used Mirena for a few years. She had it taken our early in 2009 to try for #2 and successfully got pregnant quickly (just gave birth to #2 last week).
My cousin also got an IUD after her 2nd child in two years and low and behold, she found out she was 4.5 months pregnant when her 2nd child was only like 7 months old! Needless to say, it didn't work for her... not sure why. She had her tubes tied when she had her 3rd c/s.
I used to use the NuvaRing and liked that it was very easy to use, just think about it once a month.
I may consider the Mirena.
I may also consider charting (similar to natural family planning), but I don't think that would work for the first few months or a year since I'll be waking up every couple of hours to feed the baby!

I never used BC before- we did the good old pull and pray- and it worked apparently because the first time we didn't (with OPK's and good timing) I get pregnant.
Same exact thing here. In fact a part of me was nervous that I was barren b/c I never got accidentally pregs, lol.
I own a diaphragm but never used it. Once about 2 years ago I decided that my luck would run out with the whole pull and pray so I got it. When the Gyn put it in I swear he like flicked it from across the room and it landed perfectly inside me. When I tried at home I couldn't get the hang of it. I still have it but I'm pretty sure they expire and also u might need a bigger one after u give birth... Maybe I'll ask the OB for a new one tomorrow at my appt.

I am going the IUD route. We tried condoms but that didn't work, as I am pregnant with #2. So IUD for me!

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
I decided on the Paragard IUD. For the pp that asked, this has no hormones - Mirena has progesterone. FYI, at my 6 week pp appointment I was told I had to wait another two months pp before they put in the IUD, so that's something to consider. We're using condoms for now...when we ever do it LOL...until I can get the IUD.

NFP but not the Roman Catholic way. We use forms of protection during the fertile period.

I have the paragard. I had it put in last March. It is coming out the end of this month. I have loved never having to worry about birth control, but AF is has been awful since she came back. I don't know if that's just my body (was on BCP for years before TTC and then was not getting my period after coming off it), or if it is because of the IUD. I guess I'll find out soon.

That would be ideal so you dont' have to have another surgical procedure for the tubal ligation!

Yep! Me too. I swore up and down I was going to have fertility issues. I keep hearing how unreliable the pull and pray method is... but I guess we did it exactly right!
the to doctor flicking the diaphragm from across the room!

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
We are an example of a couple who got pregnant right after giving birth. My 2nd is due exactly 11 mos after our first!
we thought about using mirena but my dr doesnt recommend it, so we will be using regular BC
but we will be using the nuva ring.

I was on the pill and now am joining the 2 under 2 club. I would take to your dr about the options of IUD or the shots.

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
we will probably do NFP since i'm convinced (right or wrong) that 10 yrs of BCP played a part in my losses earlier this year

I'm tempted to go back on the pill because I never had any issues with it, but I'm also considering an IUD. I have to discuss it with my Dr. and see what he says.

For about a year I used a combination of sleep deprivation and resentment. It worked magnificently well.
you know, as I was in the shower this morning at 6:20 am and I was thinking about just how much earlier I am going to have to get up to get DS ready for Daycare and get to work on time, this actually came to mind
i wont need BC, DH will be sleeping on the couch
a day in the life of ME!

since i fall into the category of getting pregnant so soon after DC was born, this time around I will do BCP. First time we did nothing as we were told we could not conceive on our own

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
debating tying my tubes...I'm old and it took us almost a year to get pg w/ # 2, I'm wondering if I should bother or just take my chances (if it happened, I'd love a 3rd).

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
I was on BCP and am convinced it's to blame for our insane my cycles were afterwards and how long it took me to get pregnant in the first place. Btw, I was very regular before BCP - used it for pregnancy prevention, not regularity, and it worked better than I would've liked since it plagued me for months after I stopped taking - or at least that's my theory. Anyway, after how hard that time was for us, I refuse to go on anything hormonal. We will go back to good old fashioned condoms, maybe a diaphragm.
One of my friends used Mirena - liked it for almost 3 years - just recently had it taken out because the hormones were making her crazy - her words, not mine - so I guess for those that were asking, Mirena is hormone-based. She did get a few good years out of it though and for that I know she's grateful as she would get pregnant very easily (got pregnant 3 TTC cycles in a row, 1 CP, 1 MC, and the last that stuck was twins conceived w/no medical assistance).

Re: What do you plan on using for Birth Control after your baby is born?
I took the mini-pill (since I EBF) for a year with my DD and will probably do the same with DS. I would like DH to have a vasectomy BUT he isn't sure we should end our options so soon. I might just have the Essure procedure done (which is permanent) or I might just have my tubes tied if I have a repeat C-section.
ETA: Charting did NOT work for us, hence im due this month.
