What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
Our baby is due in February. Spring break for my boys is in April. Baby will be about 8 weeks old depending on when she is born. I was making spring break plans and DH realized she would only be 2 months old and said we can't fly with her. I actually thought 2 months would be a great time to travel right after her shots. We'd go somewhere warm where DH and I could take turns taking boys to the pool/beach. New baby should sleep easily in the stroller or baby carrier. I even researched equipment rental places so we could have a swing and bouncer.
What do you think about flying with a 2yo?
DH thinks we should just go on a driving trip. I don't see what the big deal is between driving or flying. I'd rather fly for 2-3 hours to somewhere warm vs drive 3-6 hours.

Re: What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
The shots they get at that age don't really protect against the common illness they might pick up, especially on a plane.
I know myself, I always get sick after flying. It's something with the recirculated air and everyone's germs just being pumped back into the cabin.
I feel like a 2 months old, they are still pretty fragile and vulnerable and getting a common cold or the flu can be more serious.
Not to mention Measles is making a comeback thanks to people not vaccinating and they don't have their MMR until much later.
I'd probably side with your DH and opt to drive somewhere to avoid the plane and the germs

Definitely would not take a 2 month old on a plane unless I had absolutely no choice, as in an emergency situation.

Agreed. I wouldn't do it unless necessary.

At 2 months old I didn't feel like going to the mall let alone a vacation. I give you credit! Lol
I wouldn't fly with a 2 month old either. Too many germs. My doctor even told me to not take my newborn to crowded place unless we would be outdoors.

I agree. I was pretty lax about taking my kids places at that age, but a plane I would avoid.

Unless it's absolutely necessary I wouldn't fly with a baby less than 3 months. If they get a fever it's a guaranteed hospital stay

What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
I flew with both of my kids when they were 10 weeks old with no issues. It was a great time to fly - they slept the whole way.

What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
I would. We flew with my DS at 4 months and it was easy. I would think at 2 it wouldn't be much different (probably sleep most the the trip). And since you are in the area a trip to FL is a super quick plane ride. I say go for it!

I would not. We'll still be in cold and flu season. Why risk it?

What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
Nope, considering a low grade fever in a two month old leads to a spinal tap (which I had to do with my second and it was horrible to watch) I wouldn't risk it for a vacation.

I am pretty laid back and I don't think I would fly with a 2 month old to go on vacation.

My doctor is pretty laid back but said he wouldn't recommend flying with a baby until closer to 6 months old. Planes are germ boxes!

What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
I probably wouldn't want to take my 2 month old on a long trip at all. We needed to go to SC when DD2 was 2 months and we drove.

I do think it's a great time to travel but I would drive somewhere. I would be freaked out about the gems at such a young age.

I waited until 4 months. At 2 months, I did a long road trip (though it was no fun with my DD)

Re: What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
Nope. DH is actually flying to Tennessee for a wedding in February when DD will be about 8 weeks old. He is going alone cause I will not fly with a baby that young.

Re: What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
Too young, imo. Also, what if your baby is a terrible sleeper or you have a tough recovery? Do you really want to spend a lot of money on a vacation you might not be able to fully enjoy? I think plan a fully refundable driving trip and save a big trip for the summer or fall.

That too. For me and my baby 2 months would have been the WORST time to travel. She was colic, screaming constantly, never ever sleeping. I would feel horrible for the people on the plane who would be subjected to that horror show as well as the people in rooms around us in the hotel...because they would be kept up all night too. And I would have had an utterly miserable time. Not all newborns just sleep peacefully all day and night.

What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
Nope. I wouldn't even consider driving. I'm having a summer baby and the most I intend to do is go to the pool and sit under shade so 4 year old dd can get out of the house.

Re: What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
I'm pretty laid back, but I wouldn't fly at that age. There are way too many germs/illnesses that can circulate in the air on the plane.
I also probably wouldn't enjoy a vacation at that point. We've had to travel by car with a newborn for a family function and the entire trip from the car ride to the hotel was rough. We were sleep deprived, the new environment made it even more difficult to sleep, I was worried about the crying waking others in the middle of the night, DS2 was really fussy in the car, etc. I'd rather take a trip when the baby was a little older.

Re: What do you think about flying with a 2 month old?
No way! My DD is just about 7 weeks right now. I still am not feeling 100% after my c section and if the baby is having an off day, she'd be liable to scream and cry on the plane. That would majorly stress me out.
