What’s the latest with covid? Are we really going backwards?
I will admit I haven’t really been following the latest with covid. Granted I know cases are going back up and there’s this Delta variant that spreads easier, but are they really talking about going back to lockdowns??!!! Cause I may cry  is it people just spreading rumors!?
Really though I haven’t been listening to cuomo so I have no clue .
But with my luck we probably will since I just booked my DD birthday party for the end of august that I didn’t have in the winter and and slacked doing it all summer

Hospitalizations and deaths are low so Cuomo doesn’t seem too concerned with it as far as right now.
He wants all to be back at work in September as he thinks companies need to go back to normal not understanding that some companies are doing better not in the office and working remotely.

He wants all to be back at work in September as he thinks companies need to go back to normal not understanding that some companies are doing better not in the office and working remotely.
That’s because the state is losing a boat load of $$ from Real estate tax , rent tax and tax off people living and working in the city.
Not saying it’s right or best for the people to go back to work, it’s best for the $$$ for the state

Hospital admissions are on the rise. Covid Units/ICU are nearing capacity- but that's because they are much smaller units now.
I don't think we'll have a full lockdown again, but I do think some restrictions will come back if numbers keep trending up.

Of course but companies are learning they can do just as good or better without having the real estate. It costs them too much to keep offices.
We were talking about that the other day how maybe we should try and convince our company that too lol

EXACTLY. People see a number and don't realize that there are 214 hospitals in NY state.
Sooo with that number you are talking 2-3 people per hospital? I wouldn't call that overwhelmed.

At the height of the pandemic, hospitalizations were at 18,825, and there were 5,225 ICU patients. As of 7/28, there were 611 hospitalizations and 126 patients in the ICU.
The data here show that hospitalizations were in the 600s in mid June then declined to the 300s then came back up to the 600s. These data are for all of New York. ICU patients were under 100 for much of July.
Since the height of the pandemic, both numbers are certainly quite far down! But yes, in the month of July, they have both risen too.

There are so many other reasons for being in the ICU. I just shared the number above. There are 214 hospitals in NY State.

Thanks for sharing - numbers seem to be close to where they were last summer, when things were perceived as looking good since we just came out of the worst of it.

Yes! I posted before reading through the other posts. It's a useful chart; I've been checking it fairly regularly throughout the pandemic.
It is a good chart as it shows you the entire state, not just different counties.

The delta variant is highly transmissible, which is concerning. If people wear masks indoors in public settings, I think we can avoid going backwards. From what I’ve read, the delta variant fizzled out in India and the UK quickly. I hope the same is true here.

Thanks everyone. It seems if he wants people in the office he really isn’t looking into lock downs again. Or I hope. Of course I read crap on Facebook knowing it probably wouldn’t be true but wanted to see if others heard anything!
