What’s the latest with covid? Are we really going backwards?

I seriously can't handle much more of this. The kids have to wear masks again at school next year...

THIS is what I am talking about 2 different types of people. I saw this on social media and I am sure there are many places that are packed like this every weekend.

I feel like we especially now with possible mask wearing again even for the vaccinated people.
I am really upset, because I was just going to book our trip to Mexico in Feb., but I dont think it is a good idea, especially when my kids are not vaccinated ( I am more concerned about my one son and the vaccine, because he is on medication for ADHD and concerned about side effects).

Book it. Stop allowing all this fear to control everything.
If people would just stop listening to the fear mongering media and go and live and actually see what is going on around them, they would see if it blown out of proportion.

Really? This is your advice? Are you going to pay for the trip or the lost $$ if they can't go? So, the media is reporting cases are rising and the Delta variant is highly transmissible. Is that not true information? (and if you say it's not, please provide proof). How is keeping the public informed of what is actually happening "fear mongering"? There is a whole big world outside of the LI bubble and numbers are much higher in a lot of those other places. Booking a vacation and just
living as if everything is 100% fine is not going to make the reality of what is happening change. Seriously one of the most ridiculous answers ever.

The vacation is in February, not tomorrow.

People are actually going on vacations everyday and have been fine. I wouldn’t stop my plans for something 7 months away.

I'd still book and maybe just get trip insurance in case you have to cancel for whatever reason.
That's always a good idea anyway, because anything can come up and who wants to lose all that money.

Most travel insurance will not cover cancellations because of COVID

The airlines gave us full credit as well when we had to cancel due to Covid last year.
But there's always a negative, debbie downer answer, I know.

Yeah, I said never book a vacation again. How many people on here b1tched and moaned about getting airline credit and not a full refund last year? A LOT! If I was thinking about planning a vacation for Feb., at this point, I might be a little concerned that it could get canceled. The person who posted the question has a valid concern. To respond the way WW did was ridiculous and completely tone deaf and insensitive to the poster's issues and concerns. I never said don't book. What I did say was that the response of "go out and live your life because it's all just fear mongering and if you ignore it, it will all go away" was completely ridiculous

Anything is up in the air but many are traveling now and cruises have started so I wouldn't say just cancel all things planned right now.

Why do you keep mentioning people taking vacations NOW? What significance does that have with her trip in Feb.? If I was her, I would def be afraid that I would have to cancel because things could get worse.

Things could get better too. Seems everyone wants things to get worse and think she should just cancel because we will never be fully pre-Covid. So many are living pre-Covid right now and not sitting around waiting for the government to tell us how to live.

Yes exactly, pre covid RIGHT NOW. No one has any idea what will happen next month or in Feb. I walked into shoprite today and thought I missed the mask mandate sign because so many people were wearing mask again. I would say more mask wearers than non mask wearers. They even put up signs reminding shopper to not touch produce that they do not plan to buy.. So you can continue to live in your little bubble thinking we are moving back to lre-covid days when all signs are pointing opposite.

Again there are 2 groups of people. The ones that fall under the fear and the ones who are living as normal as they can.

You know absolutely nothing about people. To condescendingly say people who are concerned about the FACT things are getting worse are living in fear is disgusting. Get over yourself and maybe try offering the respect for other’s choices that you think you deserve for your choices.

Just stop. I am speaking of the ones who have been going out in large crowds and the ones who have decided to mask up again, even though they are vaccinated as they are scared.

There is a divide and if you haven’t seen it, then you haven’t been out all over the place.

If there is any such divide it’s because of people like you who focus on those who choose to do things differently than you and label them as living in fear. They’re doing what is right for them. Stop judging people who have a different comfort level than you do. You have no idea what someone else is living and no one owes you an explanation for choosing to wear a mask. Your obsession with that obviously continues for whatever reason. Live and let live. Do your thing and let others do theirs. Then you won’t see things as being “divided”.

You are crazy not to see what the media and government is doing to divide people. Telling them that unvaccinated people are making vaccinated people sick which there is no stats to prove that. I would say most of us who got a vaccine didn’t do it to never wear a mask again. I don’t care about wearing a mask. My kids don’t care. I got the vaccine so I could put my mind at ease that IF we got sick we could stay out of hospitals and live. That was my choice. To do for me and those I love and care about and maybe help those I don’t know as well. But to say we got vaccines to stop wearing a mask is trivial. Stop generalizing already.

If there is any such divide it’s because of people like you who focus on those who choose to do things differently than you and label them as living in fear. They’re doing what is right for them. Stop judging people who have a different comfort level than you do. You have no idea what someone else is living and no one owes you an explanation for choosing to wear a mask. Your obsession with that obviously continues for whatever reason. Live and let live. Do your thing and let others do theirs. Then you won’t see things as being “divided”.

You are crazy not to see what the media and government is doing to divide people. Telling them that unvaccinated people are making vaccinated people sick which there is no stats to prove that. Making people scared who are vaccinated to mask up again while it makes no sense as this is the reason they got the vaccine.

I do let people live as I am living my life, with no fear and doing everything the same I have been doing for months.

It sounds like you do as you are told without even questioning things, odd for someone who has been a lawyer for so long.

I feel like we especially now with possible mask wearing again even for the vaccinated people.
I am really upset, because I was just going to book our trip to Mexico in Feb., but I dont think it is a good idea, especially when my kids are not vaccinated ( I am more concerned about my one son and the vaccine, because he is on medication for ADHD and concerned about side effects).

Really? This is your advice? Are you going to pay for the trip or the lost $$ if they can't go? So, the media is reporting cases are rising and the Delta variant is highly transmissible. The vacation is in February, not tomorrow.

People are actually going on vacations everyday and have been fine. I wouldn’t stop my plans for something 7 months away.

I'd still book and maybe just get trip insurance in case you have to cancel for whatever reason.
That's always a good idea anyway, because anything can come up and who wants to lose all that money.

Most resorts I've looked at have free or very lax cancellation policies due to Covid.
The airlines gave us full credit as well when we had to cancel due to Covid last year.
But there's always a negative, debbie downer answer, I know.

Yeah, I said never book a vacation again. How many people on here b1tched and moaned about getting airline credit and not a full refund last year? A LOT! If I was thinking about planning a vacation for Feb., at this point, I might be a little concerned that it could get canceled. The person who posted the question has a valid concern. To respond the way WW did was ridiculous and completely tone deaf and insensitive to the poster's issues and concerns. I never said don't book. What I did say was that the response of "go out and live your life because it's all just fear mongering and if you ignore it, it will all go away" was completely ridiculous

Anything is up in the air but many are traveling now and cruises have started so I wouldn't say just cancel all things planned right now.

Why do you keep mentioning people taking vacations NOW? What significance does that have with her trip in Feb.? If I was her, I would def be afraid that I would have to cancel because things could get worse.

Things could get better too. Seems everyone wants things to get worse and think she should just cancel because we will never be fully pre-Covid. So many are living pre-Covid right now and not sitting around waiting for the government to tell us how to live.

Yes exactly, pre covid RIGHT NOW. No one has any idea what will happen next month or in Feb. I walked into shoprite today and thought I missed the mask mandate sign because so many people were wearing mask again. I would say more mask wearers than non mask wearers. They even put up signs reminding shopper to not touch produce that they do not plan to buy.. So you can continue to live in your little bubble thinking we are moving back to lre-covid days when all signs are pointing opposite.

I would say most of us who got a vaccine didn’t do it to never wear a mask again. I don’t care about wearing a mask. My kids don’t care. I got the vaccine so I could put my mind at ease that IF we got sick we could stay out of hospitals and live. That was my choice. To do for me and those I love and care about and maybe help those I don’t know as well. But to say we got vaccines to stop wearing a mask is trivial. Stop generalizing already.

That is great, that is YOU. I think most did it not to wear a mask as when the mask mandate was lifting people were rejoicing and going on and on how ONLY the vaccinated people could take off their masks.
