It depends on exactly WHERE in Garden City - I'm not interested in bordering Heampstead w/ a "Garden City" mailing address - I want stately 'old school' Garden City -

SO, if you're talking about Garden City proper - then I'd take Garden City ........

But I'd take Massapequa over RVC -

Totally agree...if it is really Garden City then YES! RVC would be second and then Massapequa...but they are all great places to live!

I grew up in GC and live here now. I don't know too much about the other towns.
I do know that the school district is excellent...from my own experience the importance of education is encouraged from a young age from both the schools and parents. As a teacher my focus is on education so I would base my decision on school districts. Also as an investor I would consider in which town my money is best invested and where I'm going to see the biggest growth.
As for the rules and regulations in the town they may seem strict....but I have never found them difficult to live by and they do help to keep the town looking the way it does.
I can understand your desire for a pool....but the town pool is really nice... and as your children grow they are going to want to be there with all of their friends...there is mini golf, tennis courts, they show movies on a big screen outside one or two nights a week, sports camps etc...
Also having a pool in your own back yard can increase property taxes and there are safety issues that you have to worry about as well as maintenance.
GC is not perfect....no place is....there is a lot of focus placed on money and "keeping up with the Jones's"...but from what I hear that is everywhere on Long Island.

Good Luck with what ever decision you make.
