What's so great about Publix? I shop there and think it's exactly the same as all the large LI grocery stores. NO? Am I missing something?

I feel so lucky being that all these places listed are within 30 minutes of me...
however!
this AM made potatoes and eggs since I can't find it down here anywhere. DH and kid went on a sunday morning roll hunt!
nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no rolls!
I can't get a decent bagel either.
or eggroll.
or vanilla chip ice!!!! no where!!!!

Another one for Wegmans!
And Stew Leonards- I love Stewies! At the moment there is one not far from me in Danbury but at some point we will be back on LI and I will miss Stew's terribly.
ETA- Culvers! The BEST frozen custard I have ever had. I think they are only in Wisconsin and maybe neighboring states/

When I was a kid, into my teens, my family used to go to Nashville every year to a music convention (my parents still go). I remember they used to always take my sister and I to Shoney's and a place called Pofolks. I don't know if I'd still like them as much now that I'm an adult but I remember back in the day, I would be so excited for our family trips to eat at these two places. Waffle House too.

there is a Steinmart in the Atlas Shopping center in Glendale (Queens)
and someone mentioned an Arbys, there is one off the LIE at Utopia Pkway

Publix..at laest the ones i've been to..will bag your groceries and bring them to your car. They don't do that on LI. You are lucky if you get your groceries bagged at all here

I've never been to one, but I've been hearing how good Wegman's is for decades.
ITA! I grew up with them in Rochester and Buffalo! I wish we had a Wegman's down here - I would never leave the store!!!!

Also they have great sales (lots of 2 x1) and I really like their brand product.
