When visiting other states are there any stores/restaurants that you go to, that you wish Long Island had.

My best friend lives in the Charlotte, NC area and I go there about 3-4 times a year to visit. I love........

Kirklands-home furnishing store. Its amazing with such great prices. I'd take it any day over Home Goods.

Garden Ridge-They have everything there. I spend hours there every time I'm there.

Chick Fillet-Love that place and although I try to avoid fast food as much as possible, that place is somewhat healthy because they use real chicken and it tastes really good.

Totally agree with you on these 3 places - I have family in Charlotte and love these stores. My mom is always telling me about these great things she gets in Kirklands. Also, Chicfilet is great - I really am not a fastfood fan but I realy like it.
My husband wishes we had Dairy Queen here - nothing beats their dipped cones.

Krispy Kreme (again). We used to have a lot of KK, but they all closed.... Chat Icon I have pics of my PT Cruiser with their PT in front of the Riverhead KK.

Roy Roger's (again). We used to have a lot of those as well. The only one left is in Mastic.... I still go there once in a while, but it's a long drive just for chicken, so I only hit it when I'm in the area, or passing through.

They just opened a Krispy Kreme in Farmingdale on Hempstead Turnpike.

I vote for Wegmans
I already wrote them a letter and told them to open at the old Fortunoff location b/c so many people would travel there and during the day loads of people would go there from their offices for lunch.

Anyone else want to join me? :)

A few of the places listed are owned by religious fanatics, they might not have locations here because the owners are worried how that would play out in the more liberal north east.

Chick-fil-A, In and Out Burger and Cracker Barrel come to mind first.

I'd like to have a Dairy Queen and a Sonic!

What's so great about Publix? I shop there and think it's exactly the same as all the large LI grocery stores. NO? Am I missing something? Chat Icon

Publix..at laest the ones i've been to..will bag your groceries and bring them to your car. They don't do that on LI. You are lucky if you get your groceries bagged at all here

YES, you are right, they do that, although I never let them bring it to my car...I am totally capable. I didn't even realize this was a not characteristic of all grocery stores.

we just had an amazing steak at this place in Pennsylvania. an 11 oz steak was FOURTEEN BUCKS. I was amazed.

I also think you haven't experience the deliciousness of burgers and fries until you've had an IN N OUT BURGER.

Plus the mecca of rotisserie chicken is the California Chicken Cafe...freaking LOVE that place!

Its not so much that I personally want them here but rather Im just sick of seeing commercials for things we don't have, like for instance:

Sonic
or
Dairy Queen

I agree! Why bother showing the commercials if they are nowhere around here.

They do it for over a year to see if people go to the web site and locate the nearest location then they try to see if there is enough intrest to open a location

BTW there is a Sonic on Rt 17 in NJ
