It would be insane if Biden wins and breaks that 54 year steak. I seriously went down the election and history rabbit hole last night.
What 54-year streak?
Ohio has picked the winning president since 1964. It should been 56 years, but obviously election are every 4 years so it’s not a straight 56yrs. The last time Ohio voted opposite of the winner was I believe for JFK. This is why when Trump won Ohio the last time everyone was worried Hillary was going to lose and she did. Obviously, this doesn’t mean Biden can’t win but he would be breaking the states streak of voting for the winning president.
It’s really close. Shows how divided this country is. Eta: I believe only 4 dem candidates won without Ohio.
Funny how all of a sudden after Trump won FL and OH they found all these votes in Michigan and they called Arizona when they shouldn't have. What about Virginia? Another one that is incorrect also and they admitted it on TV last night.
Not everyone called Arizona. I’ve been watching CNN and they have not called it. Trump heard it from one or two networks, which, granted they should’ve not called it and he went on his rant.
Arizona is not done. And votes aren’t popping up out the sky. There are mail in ballots, provisional ballots, absentee ballots. States have different ways of counting their votes. You can see the percentage of where the states are at in their counting and the margin of where the candidates are.
Regardless who wins, you can’t want to count votes for some states and then stop it in others. That’s not the way this country works.
Eta: Trump is closing the gap in Nevada since last night. Are these votes that popped up out of no where too? or are those ok.
No he does not want them counting votes that are coming in today or tomorrow. PA said it could be days as they still have some and everyone should be counted. The date was yesterday and nothing else should be allowed to be processed. I honestly think all of these should be in WAY before the election so everything will be ready before that night.

More disgusted than nervous. This is the first election I am not voting in. I voted for Clinton in 2016, but I can't get behind Biden. And I sure as shit am not getting behind Trump. Biden is is not strong enough to heal this country, and even if he were, it is going to take a lot longer than four years to repair this mess. I hate to say this, but I think we are royally screwed either way. God help us all.
This is such a shame. Everyone should vote. By not voting, you basically have no right to complain about anything for the next four years.
Does it really matter in NY though to vote? Especially if your Republican. Republican votes for president really dont count for much here. Charles Manson would be running as a democrat and NY would still vote for him only because of him being a Democrat.
As much as NY is a democrat state, the margin was 55.5 vs 43.2 and Trump won Suffolk from the information I have seen. This was NOT a blow out in any sense.

You can't change the rules now. If people submitted their votes according to the rules of the state, that ballot must be counted.
And its ridiculous to assert that they FOUND ballots. Many states cannot start counting mail in votes until after the polls close, per their laws.

Yes but if they are supposed to be post marked by the 3rd, no others should be counted.

Yes! It’s astonishing how people don’t listen or do their research. Votes aren’t being casted after the election date. Some states count mail in ballots as long as they are post marked by 5pm on Election Day (ie. PA) others the mail in ballot has to be received in by Election Day. PA is not counting votes casted after Election Day, they are counting votes that were submitted in accordance to their rules and regulations. Therefore, a vote postmarked by 5pm on 11/3 may not be received till a few days later. It’s really simple.

Absolutely no other votes that were casted after 11/3 according to the states rules should be counted. But post marked votes will be received today, tomorrow etc and will need to be counted. Trump wants to stop counting which is insane.

Doesn't post marked just mean that the post office received it? Doesn't necessarily mean it was received for counting.

Election day is just that....election day. It doesn't mean all votes will be counted by that day. And if we stopped counting votes now, based on Fox projection Biden would win......not sure why Trump would want that.

It’s also a pandemic. You can’t close the country, ruin people’s lives with closures/strict guidelines and then in the same instance say oh you have to go out and vote. But if you don’t want to because we scared the crap out of you then we need your ballot weeks in advance. It doesn’t make sense. We can’t forget that Covid influenced the huge influx of mail in ballots and why it will take days to count these votes. Don’t forget this is the “New Normal”. sorry I had to.

Absolutely no other votes that were casted after 11/3 according to the states rules should be counted. But post marked votes will be received today, tomorrow etc and will need to be counted. Trump wants to stop counting which is insane.
That is why I indicated these ballots should have an earlier post mark date, possible a week before if it takes this long. How do we know if they are actually doing the right thing?
How does a earlier postmark mean they are doing the right thing?
We really don't honestly. Just thinking it would eliminate this part of waiting for days to count them after the actual election day.
I get that. What I don't get is all the votes in Michigan and WI (more than voters they actually have in WI) appeared overnight. Biden got more votes overnight while Trump got none. Huh???? Can't seem to post picture here

Who's nervous for tomorrow's outcome?
At this point any of these swing states I would expect Trump to demand a recount because of how close it is. If he loses of course.

I would demand a recount in at least MI and WI. I think AZ has not been called on other stations than Fox (going back and forth with them all) as that is questionable too.

I saw that as far as Biden getting all these votes. But i was watching till 3am and CNN was breaking it out by counties for each state. When you saw the map, there were a lot of mail in ballots in urban areas where Biden was expected to pick up more votes. I think if I woke up and PA was blue, I’d have serious questions.
If either party wants to recount or have lawyers presents while counting, by all means have at it. It’s a close race, recount to make sure. I rather there be the least amount of questions or suspicions who the president is regardless of who wins. I’m over the fighting and division.
I just don’t agree with Trump calling this fraudulent so early and claiming anyone is stealing the election. That’s a big accusation that not even his Vice President could co-sign. Many republican officials has said that was wrong.

Re: Who's nervous for tomorrow's outcome?
The issue is that we are not used to it being this close.
Recounts and mail ins and such have not been an issue in Presidential elections since 2000 and that was the first time in a long time.
https://www.270towin.com/historical-presidential-elections/
So while we usually know on Election night or very early the next morning, this race is different for obvious reasons - the COVID/mail in situation and the fact that we are so bitterly divided.
We're all going to have to be patient.

I would not have called fraud either until these results came out. ALL votes for democrat? You know that never happens. There is always that 3rd party that people vote for even if they didn't want Republican.
For what it is worth, I turned to Maury just to get away from it all for a moment

I left to take my drug test for a new job. Take a breaks from watching the map. It’s so close that it’s addicting.

I wish all the news stations would be on the same page too as you go from CNN to Fox and totally different numbers as Fox are putting predicted numbers and not actual so there is more of a lead with them.

All news channels take any bit of anything, whether it's fact-checked or not, and make it the current headline. It's what gets people to go to their site.
