i love how people have every excuse in the book---i'm short, pregnant, sick, etc etc etc.

fact it, it's your responsibility to clean off your car. if your snow/ice hurts or KILLS someone, you'll have to live with that for the rest of your life. then you can tell your excuse to the cop, judge or coroner.

Wow. Totally rude an uncalled for. You have no clue how I feel, or anyone else for that matter. I hope that you have a very happy holiday season.

i never said i know how you feel. and it's not uncalled for--it's the law. people can have all the excuses they want, but the fact is that it's the law.

i drive 52 miles on the highways round trip every day when i go to work. i can't tell you how many times i've feared for my life with flying ice. so i feel the way i do based on my experiences.

and i hope you have a very happy holiday season as well.Chat Icon

Ice is one thing. A little snow is another. I understand how you would be angry about ice, but if a little snow blows off someone's car, you shouldn't call the police over it. Just understand that not everyone can clean it off right away. That is all. If this still isn't good enough for you, i am sorry.

I can't stand it either. I amke a point to clean off my truck entirely (yes I climb up to the roof rack) before going anywhere. It scares the crap out of me too.

i'm not really sure why you are apologizing to me... but of course snow is different. and i never said anything about calling the police---although i certainly would if i got the license plate. the problem is that snow turns to ice when the temps drop. and that is dangerous--hence why you need to clean off your car.

carry on all...i'm done here.

I can't be bothered to read all the drama, but I will share my tip- I keep a snow shovel in my car (and if I say that you should ALL do this, am I being judgemental? Chat Icon) because I often get plowed in at work. On Friday I used the shovel to push the snow off the roof of my car. It helped a lot- I just have a car but I am not tall and it's the only way for me to do it- no ladder required.

you are 100% correct and i dont think you were being rude at all. being pregnant, sick, or short are not excuses to put lives in danger. clean off your car or stay off the road.

Re: Why can't people clean the snow off of their cars?

It is just ridiculous that I have to defend myself about having 1 inch of snow on the roof of my car. Of course, a block of ice is a different story, and I was never talking about that. I was talking about cleaning one inch of snow off my car after it snowed when I left work and it was still heavily snowing. If I tried to climb up on my roof to clean it off, I probably would have hurt myself pretty badly, and I have enough to worry about, so it is totally not worth it, when i live less than 5 minutes away from my job. If I am still going to be crucified over this, so be it. I am sorry that I ever posted on this thread to begin with. It is so not worth getting angry over.

What difference does THAT make? It's ONLY the roof...it's not like the SHORT people will see it. [/sarcasm]

Don't you know? The correct thing to do is risk life and limb to clean off the top of your truck.

Chat Icon DH loves every year, every snow storm I b!tch about this non-stop.
As much as I hate it on all cars the ones that piss me off the most are those with small cars - seriously there is no excuse for that at all.

I don't know- it's a plastic shovel. But if I did, I'd hope that it would at least coordinate with the lovely design that one of my students keyed into my hood last year. Chat Icon

I never said ice. I said snow. By the time it has turned to ice, it is off my car. I was talking about a 5 minute trip after a freshly fallen snow. I do not get why that makes me a pariah. I forgot that everyone is perfect and always cleans their cars off as the snow is still falling. Silly me. I will remember for next time.

You should get a chimp to ride on the top of your car and as the snow is falling from the heavens he can clear it off. Problem solved. Next crisis. Trunk Monkey ( it's really a chimp but...)
