Why cant ppl follow the gas rules???
I pulled up to a BP since its my day and I see this guy pull up with an even...I go in to buy powerball and I tell the cahsier that he can get a ticket for letting ppl with the wrong plates pump and the guy had already paid...the cashier gave back the money and he said he couldnt get gas...the guy then starts yelling at me and we both get into a verbal altercation...Why cant ppl just follow the damn rules!!!!!! He isnt better than anyone else!!! I was just so pissed

Report the station. He might have let people go when they weren't supposed to all day. I bet he gave the $$ back only because you said something.

Report the station. He might have let people go when they weren't supposed to all day. I bet he gave the $$ back only because you said something.
They dont have anyone watching at all and it probably has happened but for me at least I follow the rules and I will make it a point to not let ppl break them when I see it

Sounds like there was no line to me. If there is no line I personally could not care less who gets gas. Pumps open then I see no harm in it. I think the main point is to cut down the lines so if no lines then no big deal IMO.

Seriously! I have better things to do with my time than scope out license plates to tattle on strangers at a gas station that has NO line.

Do you ever speed? Roll through a stop sign? Those are rules too, but its ok when they aren't observed. Relax...it isn't a big deal.

did you ever stop to think that maybe he is a first responder, doctor, or other essential person who needed gas TODAY when there was no line, no odd numbered people waiting? Maybe he tried to get it yesterday and they ran out. Maybe he couldn't wait until tomorrow.
As much as there are people who suck and just do it because they think they're above others, I think you policing the gas station when you weren't even there to get gas yourself sucks even more.
It's a rule to help ease the lines and "pain at the pump." If there's no line, I don't see a problem with it. People waiting in a long line when it's not their day, that I see a problem with...

Personally, I feel like the gas rules should only need to be enforced if there is a line for gas. If there is no line, then I don't think gas stations should lose a possible sale because of a license plate number. I'd imagine a number of gas stations' business suffered during the last two weeks due to a loss of electricity at some point...I'd hate to see anyone lose more money at a time when we all need it.
If there was a long line and someone was ignoring the law, that's a totally different story!

Honestly, if there is no line, I could care less what someone else is doing. I got gas today and pulled right up to the pump, no line at all. And I also passed a few stations without lines. It's not worth it to me to get into a fight with someone over gas. Not my place to enforce the rules.

I feel like the even-odd days are there for a reason. It's not if there is a line, it's because there is a GAS SHORTAGE. They aren't gas rules, they are GAS LAWS put into place for a situation that warranted it.
They let him fill up, how does it work for next guy with the correct license plate who gets told they are out of gas? Fill up on your designated days. Don't be the asshole that thinks they are above the law. I saw the long line in the morning & gas was sold out at most stations by the time I was on my train ride home.
As for the first responder comment, it's complete bs. If he's a first responder in need of gas, he's not going to curse another patron out. He's going to whip out his id & show it to the attendant because, you know, he's in DESPERATE NEED OF GAS TO GET TO WHERE HE"S GOING which entitles him to gas.

Yes, the rationing is also because of shortage of deliveries and stations that are closed because of no gas. IMO that means until the 3 out of 4 stations on every corner are open ALL day with enough gas for everyone it's fine to ration!

actually, it's not bs. my friend's dh (FDNY) and another guy in dh's firehouse had to find other people to drive with/take the train today because they BOTH tried to get gas this morning WITH ID at two different gas stations with no lines and were turned away because it was the wrong day. they were both going to work, you know, as first responders.

As for your DH & his firehouse buddy, they need to report the gas stations or call their local police department if they're that desperate for gas & couldn't arrange to get it on the right day. They are entitled to get gas, right?

But who are we to police these LAWS? Are we policing the people that break all LAWS or just this one because it may concern us? I said it before, there are bigger things to get upset over.
I filled up today, with the correct plate, but the guy said he would fill my other car (even) up too, if I got back before he closed. Now, I didn't go back, mainly because they can't run my credit card twice on the same day. I will go tomorrow, get the same gas that I was going to get (because he was closing in less than an hour). In reality, what would have been the big deal had I gotten gas today when there was no line.

IMHO it isn't worth saying a damn word. Haven't you read the stories of people pulling guns out over gas lately. He may have been a pyscho. Plus, there aren't lines. The whole odd even thing was done after the problem was already resolved. Our government was a Day late and a dollar short like they are with everything else around here lately.

All the rule did was make people realize they need to stop panicking. There are no lines anywhere. More power is coming on which means more gas stations open. gas crisis over imo ... stop getting annoyed. Its quite possible that person was traveling a lot that day and was on empty and had no choice but to get on the line
