We're numb? Our government refuses to ban flights...we're at risk and powerless.
I work on the front lines, along with my co workers. We're freaking out and mad as hell.

I work on the front lines, along with my co workers. We're freaking out and mad as hell.
They can't ban flights, since they would effectively be barring US citizens (forgetting about anyone who might have a visa, etc) from traveling back to their country without due process.

And even if it is.. it was caught and he'll be treated, just like the nurses and the cameraman
still has no effect on the general public

Even if it comes back positive, I wouldn't be surprised or concerned. He was working with doctors without borders in guinea treating Ebola patients. He flew to Brussels, then to JFK and now he has 103 fever and gastrointestinal issues.

Where would they ban flights from? If flights were banned from Africa can't people just fly to Europe or somewhere and then to the US? Wouldn't it be harder to track which incoming flights are higher risk for Ebola than others? What am I missing?

Ebola has spread so much in Africa its impossible to take the approach of banning flights. However the CDC announced yesterday that all flights coming in from 4 of the w. African nations with high rates of EVD will be routed to 4 major US airports for screening.

I'm back and forth between freaking out and numb but because if everything in this world. I consistently have to convince myself that there is more good than bad in this world and I pray for my babies to grow up to a less scary place. I just don't remember it all being so scary growing up and don't know if that's because I was kid and didn't realize or if it's true, it's worse now. I'm not really talking just Ebola, sorry to crash thread but it's this and it's everything.

Wonderful for Nigeria. They only had 19 infections. But the contained the spread and stopped it. Only 8 deaths.
Senegal is also free of ebola. They only had one case. It's amazing to me that they contained it better than we did.
IF this doctor is positive the cdc will have a LOT of work on its hands. He was in a car service and bowling hours before his fever began and a few days after he started feeling sluggish.

I'm not freaking out about Ebola it's what I call a national distraction.... I will say. I'm preggo, it's flu season, and I'm done with cordial handshakes, kisses on the check, fist bumps, sharing drinks and touching people in general lol. (And yes, I know Ebola is not contracted this way..i just think most people are dirty).
