IS this following Ebola Protocol?
NYC Cops on Ebola Case toss gloves and masks in public trash can.
There is also a video on this link showing them doing it. I'm sorry, if this doesn't concern you, I don't know what will.
But does it show these officers enter the building or have any contact with Spencer?
If they were on the street the entire time and never touched him then its no more contaminated than anything else on the street.
And seriously...The Daily Mail is essentially the NYPost in England. It's a rag sheet.
Fox news also reported it. Yet I'm guessing nobody trusts their site either.
Was also shown on CNN as well

I'm actually starting to come to the conclusion that people like being freaked out. That life seems more interesting if you're running around with your hair on fire.
Hair on fire, or bleeding out. Ya know. Either way

The cops were most likely not in the apartment! It clearly states in the article that they have no evidence they were in there. I'm sure everyone had on protective gear regardless of where they were in the building. No one was in the apartment according to last nights conference except the staff that removed him.

I get it. Nobody wants wide spread panic. Of course it will be stated they were no where near it. Doesn't matter. All and every piece of material used in any kind of deadly virus should be disposed of correctly. In apartment, outside apartment, etc. I trust nobody. Humans make mistakes all the time. Obviously, this Dr. treated Ebola patients, came home and went about his daily business. Something someone with that kind of knowledge of the virus should NOT have done. He's Human. Made a mistake. I'm gonna guess that these cops did also and got their asses chewed for it.

Why is everyone not freaking out?
I know this was said in the other thread, but I don't understand why some people can't just vent and talk about their fears without others pointing out a million reasons why they shouldn't be afraid and how it's unnecessary. Sometimes it's good to just vent and air out your fears with those thinking the same.
This isn't aimed at any specific poster in general. Just an observation. I, myself, am nervous. Not panicked, but nervous. Its easier to post 'anonymously' than to talk to people in real life for some. But, I don't know, it's just disheartening to see people being put down for voicing their fears- as crazy as they may seem to some.
And yes, I already have a Dr appt made to discuss and treat my anxiety. But some others may only have this site. Its one of those "if you don't like it, don't open it" kind of deals I guess.
Now I'm rambling. Lol.
Reading this over, it may come off as argumentative, but that is 100000000% not my intention... just my measly 2 cents

Re: Why is everyone not freaking out?
Not alarmed BUT I dont get why these doctors who are coming back here after being in contact with ebola patients are going about their business like they have been on a disney cruise. You have been in direct contact with an ebola patient..DO NOT come back here and hop on three different subway trains Dr know it all even though you didnt have any symptoms then you do now so have some respect for the rest of the public who did not go to work with ebola patients. Use some logic doctors and others who are traveling to these countries. I believe that anyone who has been in contact with ebola patients should be following strict protocol as they go about their daily lives..sure its an inconvenience but such is life. I also believe they should be quarantined the minute they arrive on home soil. STay there until your incubation period is over and you are safe to hop the subway train.

Agreed!!
I am so sick of people rolling their eyes at me and lecturing me about why I shouldn't be concerned. I need to come to that conclusion on my own , when I am ready and feel comfortable with what the CDC/US are doing. People telling me to relax does absolutely nothing for me, but aggravate me.
Although I will say I like coming on here and reading other people's opinions, but I just don't want to be made out to be someone suffering from "irrational fear" or some lunatic because I am worried.

Agreed. He's a doctor, if there aren't mandatory quarantines he should quarantine himself. I could even maybe understand if his outing was essential. Needed food, had to work to get paid. BUT BOWLING! Come on!

I think the fact that he IS a doctor is exactly why he did what he did. He followed the MSF protocols. I think from a clinical standpoint he did nothing "wrong". Im not defending him but as others said there is no logic. Its about science, observation and facts about the disease that we know.

It's also about common sense. You just came back from Africa after helping patients with Ebola. You don't think to yourself, hmm maybe I should just lay low for a little bit and make sure i'm not sick instead of going bowling!!!! I just don't understand why none of these doctors are not doing that?!? Let's go on a plane, let's go bowling, etc...

You have better chance of getting into a car wreck so lets ban cars!
I am going to say it. I have been holding it in for weeks. You are so downright nasty to everyone on these threads. You don't worry.. awesome.. some people do. So your response is to mock them and make them feel bad? Who does that?
I can't decide if you really are afraid so you can't stop reading these threads or if you just get off on putting people down.

WOW. Sorry you feel that way. Generally I figure if you are afraid fine but use the facts. Facts are easy to back up. Facts can also help soothe nerves. Of all the folks calling names and stuff I thought I was the least.
To those OTHERS who thought I was putting you down, that wasn't my intention but INSTEAD read that I'm giving you some HELPFUL facts.
Otherwise.. god bless the internet :D I will admit.. the car thing was a bit much. But really I feel I've been fairly vanilla on the subject.

Not just her, there are quiet a few. I don't understand why people love to Ram stuff down everyones throats. I've avoided this thread and other like it like - well, Ebola, but I also couldn't stand the bashing. It's sad when adults act like children. I forgot everyone on LIF works for the CDC and are also expert sleuths on the subject

I agree. And a lot of us who have fears we aren't saying start building an underground bunker or you're going to die! Some of us are merely questioning why professionals are acting irresponsible with the American public. I hate all those little charts everyone posts about your non existent chances of getting Ebola this week. My personal concern is not about contracting Ebola this week. This is a lot to be concerned about here.
I loved listening to channel 4 last night where it was stated "we are prepared, it was only a matter of time before Ebola came to nyc". Really?! I thought last month there was no chance of it coming to the usa?

I understand what you are saying and I feel for people who have anxiety. Hey! I take two different meds for anxiety but I digress...The problem is when it goes from saying I'm worried or nervous to fear mongering. You will not catch this from casual contact. No one has caught this from causal contact. This doctor did everything right. As soon as he presented symptoms he called MSF and the CDC. He had zero symptoms when he was out the day before. He was not contagious. Arm yourself with facts and this disease becomes a lot less scary.

who is she bullying? That is quite an overreaction.
Its an internet message board - what do you expect? Not everyone is going to feel the same way about things and thats fine. Seems to me that some are trying to calm the hysteria that many seem to think is completely unnecessary and overblown.

I am nervous about it-- more because I have a school aged ds and a baby and because people are being irresponsible about it. Medical professionals, people who should know better are in denial and just acting like they can't get it.
People's carelessness. That's what scares me
