Since many people don't know him, he was an incredibly talented indie musician. He did all the music on Good Will Hunting & was nominated for an oscar for his song Miss Misery from that movie. I have cried over him.

my first 'tears' over a celebrity death was for Jerry Orbach - from many things - but Law & Order was his 'best fit' for me...
and please - he was the Dad in Dirty Dancing - no one puts Baby in a corner..

Definitely JFK jr and Princess Diana, just because they died so young, also Selena's death as well, she had such a long life ahead.

The one that stands out to me is JFK Jr. I was so disturbed by his death.
I also was bothered by Heath Ledger
i agree with JFK Jr. Not sure how old I was, I think a teenager and it just stayed with me for a while.
Also, Princess Di. I remember the scroll running on the bottom of the screen as I was watching SNL and I thought it was a joke

Princess Diana it was more the manner in which she died and how she was treated prior to her death. I visited that tunnel too while in paris just so i could try to comprehend what had happened to her that night i was so upset by her loss.

I'd have to think about it because I am sure there is one that isn't coming to mind right now but affected me a lot at the time. Right now I would say Heath Ledger. Also, seeing the reactions of my mom and her friend who was at our house when they heard Elvis died was really major. I know I just showed my age.

Jim Henson.
Whenever there is a day when two celebrities die, like today, I think of the day that I came home from school in 5th grade and my mom told me that Jim Henson and Sammy Davis. Jr. died.
I remember this day clearly. Leonard Bernstein died within a few days of them as well.
Phil Hartman was another shocker too.
totally forgot abt Tim Russert. we were so upset.

Without a doubt Kurt Cobain. I still have a hard time thinking about him because I tear up. I was 15 and in the ninth grade. I had "heard of" Nirvana way before anyone else I knew, and had loved them for a few years already. I always felt like he was speaking my thoughts and feelings. I had just come home from school with two of my best friends and we turned on the tv to hear the news and we were just in tears for hours.
Also Heath Ledger. I didn't necessarily like him, but his daughter is close in age to my daughter, and that really hit home.

Don't laugh, but Michael Landon. My all-time favorite TV is Little House. I loved it so much as a kid and i just equated him with a father figure. I cried when he died.
Also, when Princess Di and JFK, Jr. passed. The princess because it was so shocking and JFK Jr. because i am huge Kennedy buff and it was just so surreal.
I was also very saddened by mother teresa's death. she was my hero.

oh my gosh how could I forget Jerry Orbach- that really affected me too. I went home and played The Fantasticks original cast album and cried....he'll always be a Broadway guy to me.

River Phoenix....I'll never forget I was taking a shower and my Dad yelled in to me that River died (I was a huge fan), and I thought he was joking.
Steve Irwin also really upset me.
