Def JFK Jr. I remember my DH was away and I was glued to the TV for those few days they were searching for them. I had met him just a few years before through my job and he was so handsome and so nice.

While I feel bad when anyone passes, and feel terrible for their families and loved ones, I have to say that celebrities don't really affect me.
I'm shocked when a celebrity dies young or unexpectedly, but I never get overly upset over people I do not know.
Same here, unless it was a loss to a battle of cancer, like Farrah . She was the same age as my step mom who died 4 years ago from cancer , and I immediatly tear up due to MY personal losses of people I know IRL and loved.

One big one that I always remember was Rebecca Schaeffer.
She was on My Sister Sam and was about to hit it big and I thought she was the coolest thing ever.
Then an obsessed fan shot her point blank.
That was the first time I had realized things like that happened to good people.

Re: With all the celebrities passing this week.. I have a question.. which celebrity death of all time, not just this week affected you the most?
Definately Princess Diana..I remember staying up ALL NIGHT to watch every detail.
John Ritter..I was devestated..I remember crying and crying. I was a HUGE fan and his death was such a shock.
Ronald Reagan..everything surrounding it was so sad. I remember crying through the entire televised funeral.
But now with Michael Jackson..this may be the biggest for me. I just feel like a huge piece of my childhood is totally gone. So many people have said this..its just so amazing the imapact he had on so many people. This may be the biggest and most upsetting for me.

Re: With all the celebrities passing this week.. I have a question.. which celebrity death of all time, not just this week affected you the most?
Ronald Reagan without a doubt!!!
I cried everytime I saw coverage of it. I watched the entire thing. It was like my Grandfather had died. I loved that man - I always will
I was also upset when Princess Diana died. River Phoenix was very sad too. I remember where I was when John F. Kennedy Jr. passed away - between him, his wife, and her sister it was tragic all-around. What a terrible accident!
More recently, Natasha Richardson upset me because it had to do with Traumatic Brain Injury - that hits home. I felt terrible for her knowing that she might have been able to be saved if she went to seek care immediately. So many people don't know how serious brain injuries can be and how easy you can get one.
ETA: I was not alive when John Lennon was murdered but I don't think there will ever be a more upsetting and tragic death to someone so unbelievably talented. That, for my parents generation, was very tough. I was not even born and I still get sad everytime Imagine comes on or it is the anniversary of his death and they show people in Central Park at Strawberry Fields. It is just awful. What a legend. George Harrison, of course, was very sad too - I remember that. And I'll just DIE when Paul passes away - I hope it is when he is very old and in his sleep or something!

Oh, I forgot about Natasha Richardson. Her passing really got to me. I loved the relationship she had with Liam neeson and her kids.

Kurt Cobain. I was very into his band, his music, and I was going through my own teenage identity thing and i resonated with him. I remember hearing the news late at night on Z100. My friend and I called each other up crying. It took me weeks to stop being sad over it.

ANNA NICOLE SMITH
Hit me the hardest, I couldn't shake that for over a week, the fact that we were the same age and she just lost her son and a beautiful little girl would never know her Mom...was devastating to me.

I don't know if they really 'affected' me, but the one that sticks out in my mind the most is probably:
Princess Diana (and now of course Michael Jackson)
Also, I know he's not a celebrity, but one that I felt affected me was the passing of Pope John Paul II.

Re: With all the celebrities passing this week.. I have a question.. which celebrity death of all time, not just this week affected you the most?
River Phoenix.
I was studying abroad in London when I found out. I was 20 and he was a year or so older. I was a huge fan and thought it was so cool that he did My Own Private Idaho - I was a big Shakespeare nerd (still am) and I couldnt get over the fact that one of my favorite actors and crushes was in a Shakespeare adaptation.
It was the first time I could remember a celebrity my age who had died. It was really one of the first times I was seriously made aware of my own mortality.

The one that stands out to me is JFK Jr. I was so disturbed by his death.
I also was bothered by Heath Ledger
Ditto for me too. JFK Jr.'s death really affected me because he was so young and had so much to live for....and Heath was such a talent taken way too soon.

I have to say I was very upset when John Ritter passed awy. I grew up loving Threes Company. He was so young talented and it was so sudden. i am sure I wil think of others but right now he came to mind.
ETA: River Phoinex was another one. I loved him in Stand By Me and was obseessed with that movie when he died.
wow, as soon as a saw the subject title i thought of John Ritter. His death broke my heart and I thought about it for a long time after. I LOVED Him growing up.

I agree. I have always felt bad when anyone, celebrity or not dies, but like the PP said, I don't know them, so I can't really say I am affected by it. HOWEVER, Farrah's death broke my heart like no celebrity's death ever has. Seeing her special, and knowing how hard she fought, my God

This is going waaay back but I remember when Thurman Munson of the Yankees died in a plane crash, I was a little girl but we were all such Yankee fans in our family and it hit me hard.
I vividly remember hearing about John Lennon's death, and being upset.
The most difficult for me was Princess Di, because of those two boys. They were so young at the time, my God it was so sad. Still to this day, I can't bear to think about those boys losing their mother.

carroll o'connor-I was never a huge Archie fan or anything...but he reminded me of my grandfathers and looks a lot like my dad. My dad is diabetic...so when he did of complications from diabetes I could not shake that I got a possible view of the future...as morbid as that sounds.
princess di-the scene of william and harry walking the streets behind casket is heart wrenching.
jfk jr-my heart broke for caroline kennedy.
