Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

what time do you leave for work in the morning? I leave around 655A (648 on days he goes to the sitter)

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?
Wake up (540-550A), make the bed, let the dog out, shower, (hair makeup), take out something for dinner, feed the dog, change her water, sometimes I'll do a load of laundry, get Nick's bag ready and get him up (on sitter days), dress him, sing laugh and haul a$$ to the sitter's house so I can make a 716AM train.

what time do you get home from work?
Usually around 715P (DH picks up DS from the sitter)

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep? Kiss my men, wash the city off of me (so I can hug my men), change clothes, read and cuddle w/ DS. He goes to bed around 8, so when I get home, DH has already fed, bathed and gotten his pajamas on.
I will brush his teeth (fun). Then when he goes down, I'll throw dinner together for DH and I (sometimes I'll just finish what he started), clean up the kitchen, straighten up the house, finish laundry, misc things that need to get done.

Again, like PPs have said, if your DH thinks something needs to get done, then he needs to chip in.
It's all about teamwork!

what time do you leave for work in the morning?

5:30

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

Get myself ready- that's it. I can't get up any earlier- usually 4:45 and it's a rush.

what time do you get home from work?
what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?

I get home around 5:15.

I usually fix dinner but DH does that sometimes. Mostly I hang out with DD and do some very sporadic house-related tasks.

I am a big fan of FlyLady and her "you can do anything for 15 minutes" philosophy. So after DD is in bed (9 ish) I try to spend 15 minutes doing something- straightening, folding laundry, etc. I also set out my clothes and fix my lunch for the next day.

I don't know you, but you are most likely doing the best you can. Chat Icon

I'd like to add that I do have a cleaning lady that comes every other week or I'd lose my freaking mind.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

My kids are older, almost 12 and almost 7

I get up at 6am, one child leaves at 7:15am, the other one at 8am and I leave at 8:45am.

what time do you leave for work in the morning? 8:45

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?
Get kids breakfast, make lunches, feed fish, make beds, iron any clothes that need to be, get myself dressed, makeup and hair, make sure kids are ready for school, maybe thrown in a load of laundry, every other day empty dishwasher, take son to bus stop if dh not home, read newspaper, eat breakfast.

what time do you get home from work?
5pm

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
Get dinner ready (if not done already by dh) or help get dinner ready, check kids homeworks, throw laundry in dryer and maybe another in the washer, get clothes ready for next day, make sure kids get showers, read mail, clean up the tornado that kids have made before I got home-lol!!, whatever else comes up.
Kids are in bed by 9pm. I go to bed at 11:00.

Just wanted to say 2 things.

1: a tip for making the bed, if anyone cares-do it as soon as you get out of the bed. It's done, takes not even 5 minutes and you don't ever have to think about it again.

2: Go moms! Look at everything we get done!

I agree with this. as soon as everyone is up and situated in the kitchen, I run in to make the bed. it really makes everything else "undone" about the house feel better

Chat Icon

the only other suggestion I can give you is to maybe get up at 7:30 to give yourself time to put a load on or whatever before your dd wakes up....but I mean, if dh is still sleeping and doesn't help out much (except to point out what isnt done Chat Icon ) screw him and SLEEP!

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

What time do you leave for work in the morning?
On days he goes to daycare I leave at 745am and on days he stays at home with DH or my MIL I leave around around 8:30am

What do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?
On days he goes to daycare. I get up around 620am get showered and start getting dressed until DS wakes up. I then get him changed, dressed and fed. I then let him watch 15-20 minutes of Blues Clues (YES, he watches some TV, lol) I finish getting dressed and pack my lunch. Then off we go. On days he stays home we have a much easier morning.

What time do you get home from work? We get home around 530-545pm

What do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
We play, then around 615 he eats his veggie and cereal, then he gets bathed and we play and cook dinner. Once DH gets home, we eat dinner. He will sit in his highchair while we eat. We then play some more and he gets his last bottle. He usually goes to bed around 745-800pm Then DH cleans up after dinner. I attempt to do laundry, clean and straighten up and get DS stuff ready for the next day. Laundry at my house sometimes sits in baskets for days. Our bed is rarely made. It’s not a huge priority to me. We do a ton of our house chores on the weekends bc we are off.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

Let me preface this with the fact that I am kind of lucky....but don't tell DH I said soChat Icon

what time do you leave for work in the morning?
I leave between 8 and 9 am (most days I am on the 9 am train)

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

I dress Bella, shower, dress myself, make the beds, feed Bella, either pack her lunch or grab it from fridge. Then I drive to daycare, drop her off, drive back home, and the walk to train.

what time do you get home from work?
On a good day 7 pm....on a bad one 11pm

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
Not a whole hell of a lot. On the days where I am home by 6 pm (a miracle) I will help bathe and dress Bella. Most days, I get home, slam dinner down, play with Bella, read a bedtime story, brush her teeth and put her to bed at 8 pm. Then I either go back to work or watch TV. *Maybe* help fold some laundry and definitely plan for the next day (Clothes, lunch, etc) DH is home at 3 pm and makes dinner for us.

Each day is a blur.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I leave when I'm ready. Lots of time I'm late for work, and then work through lunch as a result.

I get up, take a shower, make lunch for DD & myself, dry hair, get dressed, get out the door. At some point I put out DD's clothes. There usually involves some running around trying to find all the things DD has scattered about the house that she wants to bring with her to daycare. DH & I alternate who gives her breakfast. If I give her breakfast I generally sit at the table to make sure she eats, while DH goes back to sleep on the couch. He generally gets her dressed, loads the car with her stuff and drives her to daycare.

When I get home I usually give DD a snack and get dinner started. I cook while entertaining DD if at all possible. Sometimes I have to wait for DH to get home to start cooking b/c she wants my undivided attention. Eat dinner, give DD a bath, get her in PJs, read stories if there is time, put her straight in bed if there is not. By this point it is 9PM. I spend a bit of time here on LIF after she goes down to sleep, maybe I'll watch a ball game, and by 10PM I'm in bed most nights.

As for making the bed . . . . I haven't done that since she was born. As for laundry, this past Friday I put away laundry that has been sitting on my couch for the last 2 weeks (while he has been complaining he couldn't sit on the couch - but never lifted a finger to bring it upstairs himself).

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I get up at 6:15

Shower
Dry Hair
Wake DH & DD up.
DH gets DD ready for daycare while I finish getting ready for work.

Out the door between 7:30/7:45ish...

Drop DD off at daycare around 8
Get to work between 9 and 9:15

Rush out of work at 4:30
Pick up DD between 5:15-5:30
Home between 5:45 - 6:00

Throw DD's sippy cups and lunch stuff into sink and soak (I prefer to handwash her stuff).

Get her dinner ready and get her fed.

We get about 20 minutes of play time before we start bedtime. DH comes home right before bedtime routine starts.

7:00 bedtime routine starts, DD is in bed by 7:30 pm.

I wash her daycare stuff while DH is putting her to bed.

DH and I eat dinner (sometimes...)

Prepare everything for daycare the next day.

By now it's usually after 8:00.

I then can get changed out of my work clothes, and am pretty much in bed not long after. (I'm also 6 months pregnant and just completely exhausted all the time). Thank goodness DH is understanding about it.

what time do you leave for work in the morning?

- 7:15am

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

- I wake up around 5/5:30am to feed DD, then she goes back to sleep while I shower. I get dressed/ do makeup, make coffee and wash dishes. Nanny arrives at 7am, I leave at 7:15am.

what time do you get home from work?

- anywhere from 4:30 to 5pm

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?

- Feed DD, play with DS and DD, then DH comes, I make dinner, we eat and play some more. DD naps while we get DS ready for bed. DS goes to bed between 7 and 7:30pm, and that's when I do laundry or clean up the kitchen. DD waks up, I feed her, or DH does, then we watch TV and all go to bed between 9:30 and 10.

Oh and FTR, our bed is NEVER made Chat Icon

DH would be in BIG trouble if he ever gave me ish about not getting "chores" done. We both do what we can to keep the house clean and neat and it might not be perfect but it gets done eventually. We both work full time so if I am not managing my time well then neither is he. Can't your DH help out at all?

I get home around 6pm.

I make dinner, feed the fam, clean up after dinner, bathe my son, get him ready for bed, make his milk, read books and wait until he knocks out. DH and I alternate nights on putting DS to bed. On the nights that I put DS to bed I don't do anything and I end up falling asleep with him. On the nights that DH puts DS to bed I either do the laundry or clean.

We leave for daycare at 8:30am.

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?
Get dressed, get DS dressed, make his bottles and food for the day, check email maybe and run him to daycare.

what time do you get home from work?
6:30pm

what do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?
DH makes dinner while I feed DS. After dinner, we do dishes, play with DS, alternate watching him so the other can check email/do schoolwork (DH is doing a degree online and I just finished an online MBA program), feed DS a bottle, put him to bed, relax, watch TV, shower, go to bed.

I am a lucky gal, in that DH is really the chore doer in our family, always has been. I am not good at the cleaning thing. We don't make our bed, and we only do laundry on the weekends.

my dh likes to get on my case about not doing chores like laundry or folding the clothes ( mind you we dont have a washer and dryer) or making the bed in the morning.
he jokes about it but it always gets to me!

am i not managing my time properly??

As an aside, I am seriously anal and without having all of this done daily I would freak. That's just my personality. Everything has a "home" and it has to go back in its home or I will crawl out of my skin. It's not normal, I know!! Chat Icon

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

I wake up at 6:15ish and leave the house with DS at 7:45. In this time I get myself ready....DS usually sleeps until almost the time we leave....if he wakes up before I wake him at 7:35, then he lays in my bed and watches TV while I finish getting ready.

I get home at 4:15....I play with DS, prepare and make dinner, eat, clean up, get everything ready for the following day (mine and DS's lunch and pack DS's bag), usually throw in a load of laundry or some other chore....relax with DS and DH for a little bit, then we put DS to bed at 8ish (DH gives DS a bath) After DS goes to bed I usually iron my outfit for the following day, and finish any work I might have from work (I'm a teacher) then go to bed at 10-11ish

I get up at 610 usually and if I am LUCKY I get to take a shower before DS is up. get dressed, have coffee, get his bottle and cereal ready. He gets up, I feed him, dress him, and he plays while I put on my makeup and dry my hair. Then we are out the door 815ish.

At night, I get home around 6. We play for a little while, then DS eats dinner, takes a bath and goes to bed. After he is in bed, I prepare his daycare bag for the next day, unload / load the dishwasher, set up my coffee for the next AM, eat dinner, watch TV and then bed. And occassionally in between all that I do a load of landry..

get up 6:45...out the door with dd at 7:30.

Home at 3:45 we play outside until 5:45.

In for dinner at 6ish, with this nice weather dh has been grilling most nights.

7:00 bath
7:45 bed

I dont do too much cleaning or laundry until the weekend. I spend all dd's awake time with her until she goes to bed, and then when she goes to sleep I do my online homework and then lounge in front of the tv until I go to sleep around 10

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

First of all.....please tell your husband to shove it. Even if he's joking.....tell him to shove it!

I leave for work at 6:30
I wake up at 5:45, and spend my time getting myself ready while everyone else sleeps.

I get home from work around 5 (I leave school at 3:15, go get Lily from my parent's house and then drive us both home).

When I get home, I usually check my email, play with Lily and get something together for dinner (sometimes I skip the dinner and we figure it out when my husband gets home). Lily goes to bed at 8, so 7:30-8 is focused on her bedtime routine. Then from 8:15ish - bedtime is spent relaxing, doing dishes, laundry, and working on my small business that I started last year.

If something doesn't get done....it doesn't get done. It'll get done a different day. Life is too short to spend it stressed about laundry and dishes!

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

i wake up at 6 and am out the door by 7:30 the latest. the whole time is spent on getting ready and taking care of the cat. i don't have time to play with the kidsChat Icon

i get home around 4:30 and they go to bed anywhere from 7:30-8. i get nothing done during that time because i want to spend time with them. they get my attention, and i get dinner ready.

the only thing i make sure we do before the kids go to bed is clean the kitchen after dinner.

laundry, cleaning up, bills, etc get done AFTER the kids go to bed. i'm lucky if i get anything done on a good day--and i also need time for myself. most days i finally get to sit down around 8:30pm

Up b/t 6:30 / 7 - nurse Aaliyah and cuddle
Then I wash & sterilize pump parts, shower, wash / dry hair, makeup, get dressed, kiss baby.
Leave for work b/t 8 / 8:30

Home by 6:30 / 7 - change clothes, play with Aaliyah, DH and I make dinner together, bathe baby, nurse her, put her to sleep b/t 9 / 9:30

9:30 on - me time - sometimes I go to sleep early, watch TV, get on lifamilies, tidy up the apt, wash dishes - whatever I am in the mood for.

Cleaning and laundry takes place over the weekend. But I always tidy up. Everything must be in its place!

Oh, my sis takes care of Aaliyah in my home and she washes bottles and baby dishes during the day.

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

Most days I wake at 5:30 (my mom drives my younger sister to school in a "carpool" but she ends up driving most days so we have to leave earlier)
Take a shower and get myself dressed, feed the baby. DH takes her while I make breakfast and get ou lunches ready and make the bed (on most days) and then I drop her at my moms and head to work

I get out at 3 and I pick her up at my mom's by 3:10, we stay there and chat a little, come home and feed her then we play until Daddy gets home

Start dinner when DH gets home around 5 so he can play with her. we eat, I clean up. Then it's time for cereal, play a littloe more, bath and we usually go for a walk. DD goes to bed I do some straightening up or just relax

Re: working moms: fromt he time you get home till the time you sleep, what do you get done?

What time do you leave for work in the morning?

I leave my home at 6:30 with Abby for day care. I leave day care for work at 7:15.

What do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave?

Shower, get dressed, wake up Abby, give her milk, get her dressed.

What time do you get home from work?

I get to day care aat 4pm. I get home from day care anytime from 4:30-5.

What do you do from the moment you step foot in the door to the moment you go to sleep?

I clean Abby's bottles/cups. I prepare what she needs for the next day. Then I crash on the couch (she is gated in with me and safe) until DH gets home at 6:30. We have dinner. DH cleans up after dinner while I give Abby her bath. DH gives Abby her last bottle (yeah yeah I know she's almost 2 and not off the bottle but I have bigger fish to fry). From about 8:30 on, DH and I watch TV on the couch til we decide to go to bed.

When my DH complains about housework, i tell him to get me a maid. My "shifts" are much longer than his.

please answer the following:

what time do you leave for work in the morning? sometime between 9 and 9:30 am

what do you do from the time you wake up till the time you leave? depends...something like 2-3 hours. this morning I was up at 6:15 and was out the door at 9:30.

this morning I did the following...I wake up and have snuggle time with Luce (he is my alarm clock lol..) so I change him, nurse him, and play with him for a bit...this is usually about a half an hour.

I put coffee on and then threw it in the freezer (for iced coffee). I steamed blueberries and sweet potato for a few meals and diced up some cantelope for his lunch today. I made Luce's breakfast (blueberry and banana with cereal) and fed him.

I got dh's breakfast ready (and easy day...cereal) and made him an iced coffee to go.

I ate breakfast and took a shower. cleamed up the kitchen a little bit. made the bed and got Luce's clothes ready.

got dressed, nursed Luce again and put him to sleep.

got his formula and bm ready for his bottles today.

packed my pumping bag and get my ish ready for work. made and iced coffee, took out chicken from the freezer for tonights dinner...out the door for work.

You must be a morning person, right ?

My god, about all I can handle in the morning is showers, clothes, coffee Chat Icon

I wake up at 6, shower, get ready and then I wake up the baby, give her a bottle, some breakfast and pack my oldest daughter's lunch for the day, and also give her some breakfast.

I plop the baby in front of baby einstein, while I head out to work, so DH can shower. He takes them to school, usually around 9am and then heads to work.

I pick up the girls from school anywhere between 4:00-5:00pm.

We head home, and I spend about 20 minutes tidying up the house, while my oldest helps me. DH gets home around 5:30pm and starts dinner.

I put the baby to sleep at 7:30, DH puts the oldest to sleep around 8:30.

While he's putting her to sleep, I clean up the dishes, do any laundry that needs to be done, and anything else around the house that needs to be done.

I'm in bed usually by 10pm.

What truly saved our marriage, though, was hiring cleaners - a lifesaver!!
