WWYD??????
It is very likely that I will be going through a medical procedure that MAY or may not effect my work. I know for at least one thing I will need to go to Brooklyn (I work in Bohemia) but not sure where else I will need to go or if it would effect my work schedule (as in not sure if I can get appts at night or weekend).
I have been going back and forth in my head whether I should sit down with my supervisor or not. I'd sit down with my supervisor, the HR lady and either the Assistant Manager or Manage (the Manager is currently out on disability and no idea when she'll be back). The only reservation I have about that is the company is very small and this is a very private matter. I'd be afraid it would get around.
Would you tell them or not?

Re: WWYD??????
Thats terrible that you have to feel that your private business would leak out. I am a manager of a staff of 10, if anyone of my staff told me anything, company policy dictates, that I share this only with my supervisor and HR AS NECESSARY.
I am not sure what advice to give, but if it were me, I would maybe play it by ear and if you need to tell them, tell them at that point- like if you are taking a lot of sick days or something like that- otherwise for your privacy I wouldnt tell

Re: WWYD??????
First, I would talk to your doctors openly and find out what you can expect from the procedure (and how much work you should expect to miss). Then I would talk to my supervisor about it. You don't HAVE to give details - I think the fact that you're going through a medical procedure is definitely enough. If you are really concerned, you should just openly say that it's a private matter and you'd appreciate others in the office not knowing anything.
I hope you are able to get it all figured out at work and agree with the PP - you shouldn't have to worry about people talking. That's just wrong.
Best of luck to you.

Re: WWYD??????
Thank you both. I am not sure of the timetable yet- and like the idea of getting all the details from the Dr first.
