WWYD?
Ok-so Christopher is afraid of lawn mowers. The landscapers came today and I waited until after to put him down for his nap.
One hour into a much needed nap (we were up at 6am) our neighbor starts mowing his lawn, which of course is right next to Christopher's room.
I can't do anything rihgt? He woke up all freaked out and is now laying on the couch b/c he is so tired
They are nice people, but I would feel like a royal b1tch if I complained...it isn't their problem..

Re: WWYD?
I agree that there isn't much you can do. They just had bad timing. What about a white noise machine for DS room when he naps?

I wouldn't say anything to neighbors. But thats me. He wont sleep through it, or he hears it and bugs out. Any way you cut it you really can't say anything to them. JMO

Re: WWYD?
Honest opinion... there's nothing to do.
Your neighbors have every right to mow their lawn and shouldn't have to schedule it around DS who is afraid of the sound.
It stinks, but as long as they are not mowing the lawn super early in the morning or late at night, I would just try and give DS some extra love and comfort!

Re: WWYD?
Hmm.....tough.....what about white noise? Would white noise in his room block the sound of the lawn mower?

Re: WWYD?
I don't think white noise would help, his fan was going and the windows were closed...
Yeah, I honestly wasn't going to talk to them b/c I am a pu$$y and it is a gorgeous day and he has every right to work on his yard (which is beautiful)

Re: WWYD?
Can you put the AC or fan on?
DS is now freaked out by vacuums. Of course, someone at Target decided to run the vacuum next to DS to get rid of some crumbs by the customer service desk.
There is not much you can do. But calm him and explain that it's OK. he will grow out of it eventually. Got to mow mommy and daddy's lawn soon, right?

Re: WWYD?
sorry, there really is nothing you can do. You can't really complain to your neighbors, its their right to do that.
Maybe buy a noise machine.

ITA...it is a major bummer though! I dread naptime a little bit on the beautiful days, worried my neighbors will be mowing or doing other stuff outside.

Re: WWYD?
DS is a VERY light sleeper, and also wakes up if the landscapers come to our neighbors yard.
I put the radio on in his room on static, but kinda loud. I've done this and DH has been able to mow the lawn without DS knowing.
You can't really tell the neighbors what to do, but try this next time, it works for my child who has the hearing of a dog.

Re: WWYD?
Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. It's the middle of the day, not early AM or late PM. Our landscaper used to come at 10:00 and DS always woke up from his nap when he was under a year old. I just s*cked it up and dealt with it. It was my issue NOT the landscapers, KWIM?
We can't expect others to cater to our childrens naps or dislikes
