Re: WWYD, drive or fly?

Jess,

the first thing I thought of (regarding driving) is weather that time of year. I'd be concerned of what kind of weather/snow you might encounter in the Northeast and how much that could possibly extend the drive and make it really stressful!Chat Icon

Unless money was an issue, I would fly. 20 hour drive. That's too long for me.

Re: WWYD, drive or fly?

Thanks for all the input. I didn't even think of flu season and being on a plane at that time of year.

I'm so torn! I hate flying so i'm leaning towards driving, but it would be nice to just be in NY in 2.5 hrs by plane. We really want to save the money, but are nervous about how DD will do in the car that long.

We don't mind driving, we've done it a few times before and with his parents being with us we can all split the driving which isn't bad.

If we fly we want to book soon b/c there are some good deals right now...

I guess I'm in the minority but I'd definitely fly. A plane ride is only 2 hours from florida. In my situation, I am the one who does not want to sit in a car for that long.

It would be different if you made a lot of stops on the way like stop by DC for a day, then PA, etc. Personally I'd want to get to my destination faster.

I tend to believe this however the above poster about the flu did concern me.

I think it would be a lot of work to drive...feeding etc and then stopping one night. That would drive me insane. I would take the plane...get there ...and enjoy.

I'd drive. You have a comfortable mini-van, lots of drivers, time and you're saving a lot of money.

The only thing that would concern me then is weather.

That would be a no brainer for me - I would fly. They are so easy at that age, you won't have to buy a ticket for her and it's a short flight.

For me, I rather fly. There in 2hrs and no need to purchase a seat for your DD.
I have done it twice already with my own.

Im not good with LONG car rides.

if you look now, you could find some good deals.

same here, we flew at 6 months and it was a breeze!

I would fly to be honest. The drive would be too stressful for me!!

ITA. We flew to NY with Ryleigh when she was 3 mos. old and everything was 100% fine. That long drive and having to stop so often would definitely stress me out.

i would too!! I also feel like a plane ride is so much safer!! When we moved to NC, my DH drove the moving truck w/my car on a trailer and I flew w/my DS because I didn't want him on I-95. People are flying by driving 90+ and I've seen too many accidents happen. But I'm also neuroticChat Icon
