WWYD??
I am currently on maternity leave and plan to go back on April 14. I am also trying to find a job on LI so I don't have to commute anymore. When I go back to work I will have no days. If I get called for interviews (which I've already started getting calls) then I will have to call in sick.
Should I just stay out on maternity leave until sept (money would be tight) or go back and just take the days as I need them?
I am not getting my classes back. They want me to do a regents pull out program for the rest of the year instead.
My school is in a huge mess as our principal was fired and they are still trying to replace her. There is going to be excessing but I have tenure and there were people hired after me.
WWYD?

regents pull out? that sounds kind of interesting. It also seems like if you called in sick they wouldn't need a sub and people wouldn't really mind?

Re: WWYD??
I'd probably go back for the rest of the year & then if something comes up, you can take sick days for interviews or whatever else. The way I see it the year is almost over and it's a regular paycheck for several more months. Plus doing regents pull out sounds less stressful than the usual being in front of the classroom all day, so it might not be too bad (less planning to do, fewer behavior problems, etc.)

Yes. Sounds less stressful and if you really need to you can borrow days from CAR

They would not have to get subs for me. I would work with 2 kids a period. It would be a lot less stressful. As for people not minding.....I don't know.

I already borrowed 20 days from my CAR to go on maternity leave. I would not be getting paid for the days I call in sick.

Re: WWYD??
I think I would go back. When I switched district, the other districts were great about making late interviews, so that I didn't have to take off of work.

Personally, I'd go back for the rest of year and take the days as I need them...I went back to my old job for 6 weeks after maternity leave and it was a good transition back for me and the baby...I then had the summer off and started my new job in September...the paychecks were nice also!

yes, i would do this too--- i had a few districts give me 4 o clock interviews and some even scheduled interviews for me on Brooklyn-Queens day because they knew Iworked in the city.
If you get an interview for a LI job and you have to take a day, take a day. It ***** to lose the pay, but it would stink even more to give up a possible opportunity to be closer to home and your baby.

I would go back. The regents pull out schedule sounds sweet and while it stinks to be docked for a couple of days, at least you'll be getting paid!
