WWYD?
I posted this within a month ago just so you know the scenario. Click to Read
So now, I am ready to move within a couple of weeks.
I have NO idea what I am doing in this new office. I sent an email before to the Ops Manager and she responded answering every single question except for the one that I really want to know the most- where am I sitting, what am I doing. Nothing. So, I sent her another email reiterating my question.
Still nothing yet.
My stomach is in KNOTS because I do not know what is in store for me. Isn't it unfair that I had such a high ranking position and now I have no idea what the hell I am doing? What would you do? How do you handle something like this?

Re: WWYD?
I am so sorry that your going through this. It sounds like either the manager has alot on her hands with the merger and is just plain busy or they are figuring out what you will be doing. Have you tried calling her maybe that would be better. If not is there someone else you can ask like your old manager?
I understand about working with a new manager I had that at my last job and it was awful. I did not get any questions answered straight and it didn't help that they were new too so I got really frustrated with them. Also found out my manager was not a communicator of things so I would find things out on my own. Royally sucked. Good luck on your move!! Let us know how it went.

Re: WWYD?
sounds like they don't know where you are sitting or what you are doing. If you really need the job, go with it and just play it by ear. In the meantime, if its pretty bad, look at the other alternatives. Maybe it won't be so bad.

Re: WWYD?
Something similar happened to me - when i moved from CA to NY, I was with one company, where I was an "elder" and had a fabulous boss. i loved my job and my co-workers. I lived 10 mins away from work.
I transferred w/the company, but i was working for another company - one we had bought out. So it was like starting again... I had no idea what i was doing, I was low man again, my boss was totally clueless and unapproachable, my commute was over an hour... it seemed like a great job but it was horrendous. I ended up getting laid off but I was looking for a new job anyway.
Good luck to you... I really hope that things go well. Hopefully things won't be as bad as they seem!!

Re: WWYD?
I agree with a PP that it sounds like they haven't figured out what they want you do to.
Don't let it be their decision to put you in a corner -- learn everything you can about the new office, make suggestions about what you can do and about what you'd like to do. And, when you get there, do the absolute best job you can do, go out of your way to build relationships with everyone -- even the nasty boss.
If any of the people in your current office are moving with you, they'll continue to see you as a leader and may look to you for guidance. Stay strong for them, as well.
good luck!
