I'm a lightweight (and really not much of a drinker to begin with), so even one little drink can have a great effect on me. I can have fun without the alcohol if there's nobody there to drive me home!

This is what happens to me as well. I rarely drink, so one beer or one glass of wine makes me feel pretty tipsy. I would not be comfortable driving even if technically I was well under the legal limit. For me it isn't a big deal to not drink, but I would be very uncomfortable to drive even after 1 glass, so I just don't drink.

I might have one beer (if I even finish it) if I am going to be somewhere with food and if I am going to be there for 2+ hours. If its the type of thing where people are meeting for an hour or so, I won't even bother to drink.

Technically it is not illegal to consume alcohol and drive unless your alcohol level goes over .08%. So no, I do not consider 1 margarita to be "drinking and driving" so to speak.

Yes (read on before making the nasty comments), and I would imagine that a majority on here have had A drink with a meal and then driven home... But bc of all these dicussions today, most will prob say no or not even respond at all for fear of being thrown under the LIF bus...

When I go out to dinner and happen to be driving (normally, im with DH and he always drives) we both can have a beer with our meals and be totally a-okay... Is that technically drinking and driving? I guess so, but we're not even buzzed in the least ... Now if you're feeding me 2 margaritas in under an hour... then we have a problem and of course, i'll wait it out Chat Icon

ita!!!!!!!!!!!!! same here

Re: Do you EVER drink and drive?

i have a pretty high tolerance and can drink a decent amount before i am affected. I can have 2 beers and be completely utterly fine.

I know my own body and how i'm affected by alcohol, and i know that others can have 2 beers and be 'drunk'

So yes, i have had drinks and then driven, but i haven't driven drunk
i do think there is a distinction as others have said

Re: Do you EVER drink and drive?

No.

If I know I have to drive, I don't drink. Period. And yes, this means I have been to many 'girls nights' and had a diet coke...

Part of it is I know my body - one glass of wine, and I am feeling "relaxed"...to me, that means there has been a chemical change in me, and I am not going to take the chance. The other part is I am SO paranoid, that even if I WOULD be fine, I'm driving so nervously, it's a mess anyway....so I just don't do it.

I usually will only drink if I am at home, or if someone else is driving...

No. not taking any chances... while they say their is an average time to burn off the alcohol it kinda depends by the person.

If i know im going out and want to drink i'd ask dh to drop off/pick me up..

If we go to a party one of us has a drink the other none.

Re: Do you EVER drink and drive?

The other night DH and I went out to dinner, I had one glass of wine and def. was buzzed. He drove home.

99% of the time I drive and don't drink. If I have one random drink with dinner I know right away if I feel ok to drive. I hardly ever drink now so it doesn't take much for me to feel it.
