Drug abuse needs to be treated medically, not criminally.
I respectfully disagree. My opinion on this is that taking drugs is a choice, going out into a pharmacy to steal them is a choice, and killing 4 people to obtain them is also a choice and therefore to me (and ppl can disagree) it is criminal and not medical.
He would've gotten the drugs without killing them. That is what they are trained to do, just like bank tellers. Give the goods and get the low-life out of their sight and away from potentially hurting or killing people. HE KILLED QUICK FOR NO REASON!

Well, I doubt we'd really hear about it, how would they prove it? If they couldn't prove it appeal after appeal in court, they'd never be able to prove it to the public, no matter if it were true or not.
I have no doubts in my mind that innocent people have been put to death and guilty people have been let go. No doubts. Even still, I support the death penalty.
I agree with this word for word.

Have they lost their humanity in your hearts?
Why don't you ask my ex-cousin in law who found his fiance lying in a pool of blood this question, or her children who will never see their mother. I'd be 1st to stand in line with the firing squad if it meant these f'ers would never breathe air again.

Are there really that many people that have been put to death that are innocent? I don't think I've heard of any.
I hope he fries, along with his wife.
Too many, unfortunatly. The majority being black and poor.
There is NO question in my mind that are TOO many innocent people on death row.
The absolute truth is it SHOULD be abolished since too many innocent people are convicted and put to death...not to mention its really not a detterent.
BUT, I will stick by my statement that when you have someone, with not ONE shadow of a doubt at all of being guilty of SUCH a heinous crime...I say fry fry fry and dont look back.
Do you have any literature on this? I know I've heard of innocent people being freed after DNA evidence became available and cleared them. Never heard of it in death penalty cases though. Would love to know more about this.
Here is one example of a man that was put to death and after the fact, it looks more and more like he was not guilty of the crime he died for.
What makes this story even more sad is that he was convicted of starting a fire that killed his 3 daughters. He proclaimed his innocence until the day he was put to death. So not only did he lose his family, he possibly died for something he did not do.
Example
wow, how awful

He lost his humanity the moment he decided to walk into a pharmacy and kill 4 people point blank. I don't care if you were Susie Sunshine before that. He killed 4 people. No matter what we think, a judge and jury will have to decide his fate.

Drugs make people do crazy things. Things they or anyone they know would never expect from them during sober moments.
Should we kill every drug addict? Or should we kill them only after they commit a crime that oversteps our individual and personal boundaries?

I dont have any literature. Just what I have seen over the years and read in different places (news sites, blogs, news papers, tv reports).
But nothing SPECIFIC I can point you to.

I'm sorry but you are an idiot...If drug addicts want to slowly kill themselves with the poison they induce, that's THEIR choice. There is no get out of jail free excuse for drug addicts who MURDER anyone..same goes for drunks. Your addiction should not be a defense for stripping the rights (and life) of anyone...personal boundaries, are you kidding??

I'm sure right now they want to personally ring both their necks w/ their bare hands. Should they do that? I mean I agree, they maybe even have every right to get that satisfaction.
But the rationalize side of me says that we as a society need to have calmer heads when dealing w/ crime. To react to violent w/ violent we are no better than them.

Obviously you wouldn't kill them but my opinion still stands that becoming a drug addict is a CHOICE and is also illegal....no one is born one or forced to do so.....so whatever consequences come from that initial choice need to be dealt with by that individual.

My main point here (which I've already said) is that they should not be subject to the death penalty.
I'm not saying these people should not be tried in court. But people here are very quick to say they should be put to death.

Believe me, I'll be more than happy to share James pain in six months when he's trying to cope with the images of Jaime's body lying on the floor and the guilt he's going through that this man walked right past him and he did NOTHING because he wasn't aware of what happened. You think he's ever going to look at this and be like "hand them a cookie and offer forgiveness"...Are you serious?? The problem WITH society today is that we molly coddle the criminals and victimize the victims. And yes, I would love to see/have the opportunity to cause an untold amount of pain on these individuals for the pain they've caused my extended family.

Who said to kill every drug addict? They're doing a fine job doing it themselves.
The crime of killing 4 people is not a crime that 'oversteps our individual and personal boundaries.' It's against the law
You make the decision to do drugs, then deal with the consequences and the consequences that go along with all the dumba$$ things you do while on them.

For me, my issue with the death penalty is that people are put on death row in cases where there is no video tape, there are no fingerprints or DNA evidence.
If there ever were to come a day where the death penalty could only be used in cases where there is video taped evidence of someone committing the crime, then maybe I will support it.
But until that day, when I see cases like the one I referred to above, the Cameron Willingham case, I cannot support the death penalty and will wish a slow, painful existence in jail for the people like this maggot who killed at the pharmacy.

I'd like to remind people that the purpose of the Death Penalty is not to act as a punishment, it's meant as a deterent.
If the person can be rehabilitated, they should not be put to death. Are we talking about a career criminal here? Remember, these were people who some of you had everyday interactions w/. You saw them as people. Have they lost their humanity in your hearts?
Obviously it isn't much a deterrent for sick f@cks like this guy.
Drug abuse should be treated criminally with stiffer penalties - what % of violent crimes are committed by users?
Rehabilitated - please! Nothing this schmuck does will bring back those 4 lives. He deserves no mercy!
