Vbac moms
Please ease my mind. The obnoxious sono tech at my high risk appt today is making me second think things. I walk in and she says "your still pregnant?" (I am 38w5days) I say yes I am hoping to vbac.
She goes on and on saying "Youre crazy" "You could die" "i would never put life and my babys life in dange"and so on and so on! I was so angry!!!
Now I'm second guessing my decision and I'm scared. My dr won't let me go past my due date so I have a c section scheduled for next week. I know I shouldn't listen to her but it still has me thinking.

Re: Vbac moms
She sounds like an ignorant idiot and truthfully, had no business saying anything like that to you. You (and I if I get to VBAC) will be fine. Don't let her rattle you.

Re: Vbac moms
Wow! That is horrible! I'm 20 weeks and hoping for a VBAC too. The first Dr I saw in my practice keep using the word "catastrophic" to describe what could be the outcome if there was a problem (uterine rupture) during delivery. The next two doctors I've seen have mentioned that It could be dangerous, but from what they have said and what I have read (one gave me a medical website to look at it on) while there are risks, there are risks with c-section as well. And the risk of uterine rupture is actually very small.. So, basically, I'm saying try not to let her worry you. And HOW DARE her do that to you!!!!

I would have been so mad at her too. My Doctor is actually the one recommending we try VBAC. He said if i was done with this one then he would just advise Csection but since i want more than 2 that i would be better at least trying for VBAC as i progressed last time but DS's heart rate just dropped at the end. Dont listen to her at all. Good luck to you ladies. I am watching and praying you both get your VBAC and i get mine too in about 9 weeks.

Re: Vbac moms
She is not qualified to comment on the risks of vbac vs c-section so her opinion really does not matter. It was wrong of her to say anything!
I am hoping to VBAC in August. It's what I really want and so far my OB supports this and encourages it.
I think that you should continue with your VBAC plan if that's what you want. Ignore her uneductaed opinion. GL!

Re: Vbac moms
OMG! That's terrible! Are you still seeing that same high risk dr and is this a new sono tech? I never had a problem with anyone there. There is only one tech i didn't like but rarely saw her. But she doesn't seem like the type to say something like that? I would definitely complain about that!!! I don't have any experience with VBACS, my dr did a repeat C a week before my due date. But to you for having to deal with such stupidity!!!!

Re: Vbac moms
I had a successful VBAC - due date was July 15, 2011, I went into labor July 11th and gave birth to my daughter on July 12th. 13 hrs of labor - 10hrs with no drugs.
No complications...healthy baby!
You can do it!
edited to add..
First pregnancy I ended up with a Csection because I didn't dilate past 7 - failure to progress

That woman needs to shut the **** up. VBAC is a very safe option for many women, and repeat C's come with their own set of risks. Maybe the tech should read something published by actual doctors?

eta: I had a VBAC in November and it was awesome. Good luck mama!!!

Re: Vbac moms
Another successful VBAC here. I was due Jan 23. and gave birth Jan 17th. My doctor was very supportive of my choice, even though when my husband questioned it was only 40% likely I would be successful based on my first pregnancy.
Don't listen to ignorant people!

Re: Vbac moms
I don't mean to persuade you or anyone from a vbac but I don't agree with the comments that she is trying to scare you or she is an ignorant idiot etc when you vbac you must be aware of the complications that can possibly arise, the percentage of uterine rupture is low but if it does happen you need to be aware of the symptoms if not detected and what possibly could happen. You need to go in knowing your vbac can be a successful awesome experience but there also is a chance it might not be. I had a vbac and my uterus ruptured and I almost died thank god my baby is fine and now so am I but unfortunately can not have any more children. I think having the option to vbac is a wonderful experience for women but every woman who chooses this option should be aware that there is a great side and possibly a not so great side. Just know the symptoms if your uterus does rupture and its not detected, trust your body and hope for the best possible outcome.

Just as VBAC has risks, so does a C section so I agree with you in that you need to do your research.
However, in this case, it's not for a sono tech to open her mouth and say anything, share her personal opinion, or make someone feel awful about their choice. She's not an OB and she really should've kept her mouth shut. She was overstepping. She wasn't offering constructive information about a VBAC, she was just being obnoxious.

I agree the sono tech shouldn't have really said anything and if she felt the need maybe she should have stated real facts not her opinion to try to make the op feel bad. I just don't agree that she is ignorant clueless etc i think she just was too one sided and her delivery wasn't great.
